Biography

Senior Season — 2014
Kaufmann posted a solid 1.93 earned-run average across eight appearances. His two starts both came early in the season after an impressive 3.2 scoreless innings in a 16-15 game on March 15 at James Madison. Kaufmann was the hard-luck loser in a March 23 complete game at Sacred Heart. He then pitched two innings March 29 vs. Dartmouth before tossing five quality innings in relief across his final four appearances. Kaufmann also earned his only career save in his finale April 27 at Princeton.

Junior Season — 2013
Kaufmann only made two starts before his season was cut short due to an injury. Despite making just two appearances, Kaufmann still ranked tied for second on the team with two pickoffs.

Sophomore Season — 2012
An All-Ivy League First Team selection and a three-time Ivy League Pitcher of the Week in 2012, Kaufmann tossed the program’s first no-hitter in nearly 32 years on April 1 against Dartmouth. He needed just 80 pitches to mow down the Big Green for seven innings on a day in which the mound was under constant repair due to a steady rain. Kaufmann faced the minimum 21 batters, retiring the final 16 consecutively after walks in the first and second innings. No runner advanced past first base — the first was doubled off on a flyout to right and the second was picked off by Kaufmann. ... He had a stretch of 17 innings pitched without surrendering an earned run from April 8-27. ... Taking away his two worst starts of the season, Kaufmann was 7-0 with a 1.81 ERA in his other eight starts. ... Kaufmann pitched into the seventh inning and earned the victory in the Big Red’s win over Dartmouth in Game 1 of the Ivy League Championship Series. ... He surrendered just eight extra-base hits — fewest among the four regular starters. He also led the team's starting corps with a 1.16 WHIP.

Freshman Season — 2011
Kaufmann went 1-1 with a 4.68 ERA in 2011 while starting four contests and coming out of the bullpen in five others. On the season, Kaufmann pitched 25.0 innings and strick out 16 while scattering 30 hits. Kaufmann picked up the win in a strong effort at Columbia, allowing three hits and one run in 6.2 innings of work. He allowed just two runs in 5.0 innings of wotk at Rolfe Division champion Dartmouth and struck out three in 1.1 innings of relief work against Ivy champ Princeton. Taking out a four-run, one-inning stint against Virginia in his first outing, Kaufmann recorded a 3.38 ERA.

Prior to Cornell
Kaufmann was an all-district selection at both pitcher and designated hitter as a senior and helped his summer league team to the World Wood Bat Championship in 2008.
