At Cornell
Junior (2012): Fiore served as the primary back-up in goal for the Big Red during his junior season. He saw action in five games and got the start against Yale in the Ivy League tournament, posting a 1-1 record on the year. Fiore registered an 11.98 goals against average and a .333 save percentage. He made a season-high three saves in just over eight minutes of action against Dartmouth and made one save against zero goals to earn the win against Binghamton. Fiore played a season-high 30 minutes against the Bulldogs.
Sophomore (2011): Fiore started all 17 games in goal for the Big Red, playing a total of 866:42, and posting a 12-3 record. He finished the season ranked 18th in the county with an 8.31 goals-against average and registered a save percentage of .504. Fiore also picked up 31 ground balls and caused six turnovers. He made a season-high 11 saves against both Hobart and Yale in the Ivy League tournament semifinal game. For his effort against the Bulldogs and Harvard in the championship game, Fiore was named to the 2011 Ivy League All-Tournament team.
Freshman (2010): Fiore was immediately thrust into a starting role as a rookie, getting the nod in each of the 17 games in which he saw action. As a freshman netminder, he posted an 11-6 record to go along with an 8.69 goals-against average and a .545 save percentage. He finished the year ranked first in the Ivy League and 15th in the nation in goals-against average and was third in the conference and 23rd in the nation in save percentage. Fiore registered double-digit saves in six contests and posted a career-high 20 saves vs. No. 2 Syracuse, becoming the first Big Red netminder to tally 20 saves since Justin Cynar stopped 23 vs. Maryland in an 11-6 Cornell loss on March 20, 1999.
At Ithaca HS
A high school All-American, Fiore was also selected to participate in the Under Armour All-American game. A four-year letter winner at Ithaca high school, he was his team’s MVP for his final three seasons. Fiore led the Little Red to the 2009 New York State semifinals, earning Ithaca’s first victory in the state tournament since 1978. He was a first-team all-Section 4 selection as a senior, following a second-team nod as a junior. As a freshman, he was named his team’s Defensive MVP and made the Section 4 all-tournament team. Fiore also lettered five times in hockey, helping the Little Red to the 2007 New York State championship title.
Personal
Alexander Julian Fiore is the son of Mark and Laura Fiore and has a younger brother. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
