Biography
Career Statistics
At Cornell:
Junior (2011): McMichael was a significant contributor for the Big Red in the face-off circle and on the team’s man-up unit. He saw action in all 17 games and finished the year with a .444 face-off winning percentage (80-of-180). McMichael also tallied seven goals, six man-up, and seven assists on the year to go along with 31 ground balls and four caused turnovers. He matched a personal-best with two goals against Canisius and won a career-high 12 face-offs and eight ground balls against Stony Brook.
Sophomore (2010): McMichael saw his sophomore season hampered by a leg injury, but he still managed to see action in nine games for the Big Red. He scored two goals on the season, registering both in the season-opener vs. Hobart, and tallied one assist vs. Binghamton. McMichael also saw action in the face-off circle, winning 20-of-45 attempts (.444) and picked up seven ground balls.
Freshman (2009): McMichael saw significant playing time during his freshman season, playing in 11 games. He started the season running on the second-line midfield and contributed three goals and five assists. McMichael also picked up eight ground balls and caused two turnovers. He tallied his first collegiate goal in his first-ever game at Binghamton, and tallied a career-best three assists vs. Canisius. His goal vs. Penn was considered the game-winner and he converted a man-up goal vs. Yale.
At Salisbury School
A 2008 high school All-American at the Salisbury School, McMichael lettered twice for the Crimson Knights, helping them to a 23-7 record over that span. He was also the recipient of the school’s Sean Bowler Memorial Award.
At Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic
McMichael lettered four times at Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic HS, earning his team MVP award all four years. He helped his squad to the 2006 OFSAA championships. McMichael also earned four varsity letters in badminton and was named team MVP twice.
Personal
Mitch McMichael is the son of Jacqueline McMichael and he has one older brother. His cousin Wes McDonald played lacrosse for Hobart and was drafted in the fourth round of the 2007 National Lacrosse League draft by the Toronto Rock. McMichael is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
