At Cornell
Buczek was a three-time All-American selection, including consecutive first team honors over his final two seasons. He graduated as the top scoring midfielder in Big Red history with 155 points and ranked in the top 20 in Cornell history among all players for goals (ninth – 106), points (13th – 155), and assists (18th – 49). The 2014 Ivy League Player of the Year, he was a three-time unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection, becoming just the ninth player in Cornell history, and the 33d player in the history of the Ivy League, to be named to the top team three times in their career. The 2015 Senior CLASS Award winner and a two-time Tewaaraton Trophy nominee, he finished the 2015 season ranked first on the team in goals (40), second overall in points (54) and third overall in assists (14). AS a senior Buczek also became the first midfielder in Cornell history to score 40 goals in a season, and he was just the seventh midfielder in the history of the Ivy League to record both 40 goals in a single season and 100 goals in a career. A well-respected member of the Big Red community, Buczek was also named the recipient of Cornell's Ronald P. Lynch Senior Spirit Award, given to senior student-athlete whose leadership on and off the field models the ideals of the Big Red athletics department. A tremendous student in the classroom, Buczek was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection and a USILA Scholar-Athlete. Following the season, he earned an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
At St. Xavier HS
A member of the United States U19 men’s lacrosse team that won the gold medal at the 2012 IFL U19 World Championship, Buczek was a two-time high school All-American. He was a four-year letter winner at St. Xavier HS, serving as team captain during his junior and senior seasons. He helped his team to back-to-back Region 4 championships in 2008 and 2009. Buczek was named the 2011 Midwest Scholastic League Player of the Year and was a two-time first-team All-MSLCA selection. He was named all-state and all-region three times and was his team’s MVP as a junior and as a senior. Buczek also set the St. Xavier record for most points in a single-season and most points in a career. He also lettered in football twice and was named all-league as a senior.
Personal
Connor Francis Buczek is the son of Gary and Mary Buczek and he has one younger brother and one younger sister. His father played football for Rutgers from 1984-87 and his cousin Kate Buczek currently plays soccer for Cincinnati. His aunt, Colleen Cottrell Calderwood, attended Cornell. Buczek is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
