Biography

As a Sophomore (2012-13)
Leck spent time on all of Cornell’s forward lines during her sophomore season, increasing her playing time and contributing to the scoring. She had a season-high two goals at Colgate on Nov. 17 and also scored two points at Yale on Jan. 25.

As a Freshman (2011-12)
Leck has scored goals in three different games in her first year at Cornell, finding the back of the net against Syracuse on Nov. 1, Yale on Oct. 28 and Brown on Oct. 29. Her first career multi-point game  took place on Nov. 19 at  Quinnipiac, where she notched two assists. She followed that performance with a two-goal effort at Union on Jan. 6 -- including the game-winner -- and then a two-assist night at Rensselaer on Jan. 7.  She also scored two goals against Union on Feb. 4. She was named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week on Jan. 10.

Before Cornell
Leck is a forward who played for the Ottawa Jr. Senators in the 2010-2011 season.  As captain of the PWHL squad, she led the team in goals, assists and points. Leck has a strong physical presence and possesses strong hands and finish around the net.

Personal
Monika Dowthwaite Leck is the daughter of Paul Leck and Diana Dowthwaite and has an older sister. He mother played volleyball at Dalhousie, helping the team to the 1984 national championship, while her father played hockey at Dalhousie. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences where she will pursue a major in Food Science.
