Senior Season — 2012-13
Kanji made his first collegiate appearance Feb. 23 vs. Union for the final 31 seconds of Senior Night. He then made his postseason debut in Game 2 of the ECAC Hockey Championship quarterfinal series on March 16 at Quinnipiac.

Junior Season — 2011-12
Kanji continued to serve as the team's third goaltender, dressing for home games and a handful of away contests. His only game action at Lynah Rink came in the second period of an exhibition game against Carleton on Oct. 22.

Sophomore Season — 2010-11
Kanji served as the team's third goaltender again as a sophomore and did not see any game action.

Freshman Season — 2009-10
Kanji was the team's third goaltender and did not see any game time during his first season at Cornell.

Before Cornell
Kanji was a two-time most valuable player for the Upper Canada College varsity team, a first in program history, after posting a cumulative .925 save percentage and a 2.23 goals-against average in 60 games. He was named to the Toronto Star High School Hockey All-Star Team in 2008-09, and was selected to the Stanstead Invitational All-Star Team. Kanji played Junior A hockey before the prep season began and posted a league-best 58-save shutout in his debut. Kanji also played soccer, golf and tennis, winning the soccer team’s golden boot award as the leading scorer.

Personal
Omar Kanji is the son of Sikander and Shaina Kanji and has a younger brother. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
