Biography

Senior Season — 2014-15
Berman competed in a pair of doubles matches during the team's dual season-opening trip to Texas. He played alongside Sam Fleck at the No. 3 position against UTSA, then paired with Stefan Vinti at the No. 2 spot against Rice. In the fall, Berman was 2-2 in doubles and 0-2 in singles matches at the Penn Invitational.

Junior Season — 2013-14
Berman appeared in two dual doubles matches, both times competing at the No. 3 position. He teamed with Quoc-Daniel Nguyen in a close 6-5 loss against George Washington on Jan. 26, one week after teaming with Alex Sidney in a 6-2 loss to a tandem from Buffalo. Berman also went 1-5 in singles and 1-2 in doubles in fall tournament matches.

Sophomore Season — 2012-13
Berman appeared in all 22 of the Big Red's dual matches, racking up an impressive 14-2 record in doubles play. In all but one of those doubles appearances, Berman was teamed with classmate Sam Fleck, with the duo going 14-1 from primarily the No. 3 position. Berman and Fleck were a perfect 5-0 in Ivy League play. Berman was also the most common competitor at No. 6 singles, where he posted a 7-11 record with two matches left unfinished and an additional match at the No. 4 spot, which led to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Colgate's Alan Pleat on March 3. In Ivy League play, Berman was 1-6 in singles. ... Berman was also 8-5 in singles and 7-4 in doubles during fall tournaments. He teamed with classmate Quoc-Daniel Nguyen to advance to the 'B' doubles finals of the Princeton/Farnsworth Invitational. He won the 'B' singles consolation final of the Columbia Classic.

Freshman Season — 2011-12
Berman made his dual match debut in a March 23 doubles match at Old Dominion, where he and classmate Sam Fleck fell in a No. 3 doubles match, 8-6. Berman then made an appearance at the No. 6 singles spot two days later at 37th-ranked Virginia Commonwealth, winning seven games in a straight-sets loss. In fall tournaments, Berman was 1-4 in doubles matches and a perfect 4-0 in singles, including an E Bracket title at the Princeton/Farnsworth Invitational.

At Byram Hills HS
Berman, a four-star recruit by the Tennis Recruiting Network, has lettered five times at Byram Hills high school, serving as team captain as a senior. He was the squad’s MVP in 2010 and was named all-state in 2009. Berman ranked 67th overall in the USTA Boys’ 16 and under division and is was No. 148 in the Boys’ 18 and under division upon arrival at Cornell. In July of 2010, he placed third at the St. Louis Junior Tennis Championship.

Personal
Kyle Ross Berman is the son of Howard ’74 and Susan Berman and he has one older brother, Ryan, who is a member of the Yale men’s tennis team. His father Howard also played tennis for Cornell. Berman is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
