Biography

Senior Season — 2014-15
Luu was limited by injury and played just one singles and one doubles match during the fall tournament season.

Junior Season — 2013-14
Luu earned All-Ivy League Second Team honors, competing exclusively with classmate Quoc-Daniel Nguyen in league play – primarily from the No. 1 position with an impressive 5-2 record in those matches. Kicking off the conference slate against the eventual champions, Luu and Nguyen knocked off the Lions' pairing of Ivy League Player of the Year Winston Lin and Mike Vermeer. The following weekend, Luu and Nguyen toppled Dartmouth's Cameron Ghorbani and Brendan Tannenbaum – ranked 20th in the country at the time. Overall in spring dual matches, Luu and Nguyen both had a team-high nine victories, and they finished the season ranked 67th in the country by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Luu was also 5-11 in singles matches, competing anywhere from the No. 2 to No. 6 positions. ... Luu was 8-4 in singles in fall tournaments, including a third-place finish in the White bracket of the UVA Invitational in early October. He was also 9-4 in doubles, including a trip into the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional finals with Nguyen. The tandem fell to Sam Fleck and Chris Vrabel, 8-2, in an all-Cornell final Oct. 23 at Reis Tennis Center.

Sophomore Season — 2012-13
Luu was the Big Red's leading man in singles, going 16-4 from the No. 3, 4 and 5 positions. Most of his competition was from the No. 5 spot, where he was 12-2 on the season. He went 5-2 in Ivy League play, including straight-set wins over Dartmouth's Erik Nordahl, Harvard's Nicky Hu and Brown's Brandon Burke. In his final nonleague match of the season, Luu rallied from a set down against Central Florida's Juan Bolona to win the second set in a tiebreaker before running away with the third set, leading the Big Red to a 4-3 victory. Luu was also a force in doubles, where he posted a 14-5 record. He primarily paired with classmate Quoc-Daniel Nguyen at the No. 2 position. The duo posted a 14-4 record, including a 2-3 mark in Ivy League matches.

Freshman Season — 2011-12
Luu bounced around the Big Red's order with a 11-12 record in dual singles matches. He appeared as high as the No. 3 spot, but spent the majority of his matches posting a 5-7 mark as the team's No. 6. He worked his way up late in the season, winning a season-high three consecutive matches — all Cornell victories in Ivy League play — to close out the season. All three Ivy wins were at the No. 4 spot, including two matches that went to three sets. In doubles, Luu was 10-8 with an 8-2 mark when competing with classmate Sam Fleck at the No. 2 spot — easily the Big Red's best doubles combination on the season. In fall tournament play, Luu was 5-3 after getting off to hot start with four straight victories en route to the C Bracket title at the Princeton/Farnsworth Invitational. All seven of his fall doubles appearances came alongside Fleck, with the duo posting a 4-3 record.
