At Cornell
Van Bourgondien was named third-team All-American and second-team All-Ivy following a senior season in which he ranked third on the team in assists (14) and fourth overall in both goals (29) and points (43). A member of the first line midfield for his final two seasons on East Hill, he finished his career with 48 goals, 26 assists and 74 points. Van Bourgondien tallied at least one point in 19-of21 games over his final two seasons.
At Lawrenceville School
A four-year letter winner, Van Bourgondien started for three seasons at Lawrenceville, leading the team in scoring during his final year with 38 goals. He finished his career with 113 goals and 74 assists, while leading his team in ground balls over his final two seasons. Van Bourgondien was named the Star-Ledger Prep Player of the Year after helping Lawrenceville to its eighth consecutive NJISAA championship. As a senior, he was named first-team all-state and was a Trenton Times first-team all-area selection. Van Bourgondien also received Lawrenceville's Marshall H. Chambers '62 Lacrosse Trophy, awarded annually to the member of the varsity team who has made the most outstanding contribution to lacrosse through his performance and devotion to the sport. He played for the New York City Empire State team in 2005, ’06, and ’07. Van Bourgondien also lettered four times each in soccer and hockey, earning all-state honors twice on the ice.
Personal
Maximilian Van Bourgondien is the son of Skip and Nancy Van Bourgondien. His father lettered three times and was an All-American lacrosse player at Ohio State. Van Bourgondien is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
