Biography

Senior Season — 2015-16
Hilbrich scored six goals and added eight assists for 14 points in 32 games. Among his more memorable goals was an extra-attacker strike with less than 10 seconds remaining in the third period of a 3-3 tie with Brown late in the season. Hilbrich then scored in the playoffs for a fourth consecutive year when he scored the tying goal in the Big Red's Game 2 victory over national No. 1 Quinnipiac in an ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series on March 12. He later assisted on the winning goal. Hilbrich's career total of 48 points was highest among the members of his class. He was one of 10 finalists and was ultimately named a Second Team All-American for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award. After the season, he was presented with the team's Mark Weiss Memorial Award, which is given annually to the senior with a career-long dedication and passion for the sport of hockey. Hilbrich also received his fourth Wendell & Francelia Earle Award, which is presented annually to the top student in each class.

Junior Season — 2014-15
Hilbrich led the team with 10 goals and added four assists to tie for second on the team with 14 points. His biggest game came against Denver on Dec. 5, when he scored twice and an assist for his second career three-point game. One of the goals in that game was his second game-winner of the season, which was tied for the team lead. The other came on Nov. 21 against Yale, when he scored with 7:02 left in the third period to break a 2-all tie. In all, the Big Red was 6-1-2 in games when Hilbrich scored. The lone loss was when he scored his third career postseason goal on March 6 against Union in an ECAC Hockey Championship first round series. At the team's postseason banquet, Hilbrich was presented the Wendell & Francelia Earle Award, which is presented annually to the top student in each class. He was one of just six players on the team to play in all 31 games.

Sophomore Season — 2013-14
Hilbrich finished second on the team with nine goals to go with five assists for 14 points, leading his class in overall scoring. He also had a plus-6 rating, which was tied for the team lead. Hilbrich started his season off with a bang, scoring in each of his first two games. The first goal came on the power play at Nebraska-Omaha, followed by an even-strength goal the following weekend against Princeton in the Big Red's ECAC Hockey opener. Hilbrich caught fire in the middle of the season, registering seven points in a five-game span from Dec. 29 to Jan. 25, playing on a line with Brian Ferlin and Dustin Mowrey. He had his first career two-goal and three-point game Jan. 24 against St. Lawrence. Hilbrich then scored the first goal of the ECAC Hockey Championship semifinal against eventual national champion Union, ripping a shot over the glove of Dutchmen goalie Colin Stevens on a two-on-one break up the right wing. At the team's postseason banquet, Hilbrich was presented the Wendell & Francelia Earle Award, which is presented annually to the top student in each class.

Freshman Season — 2012-13
After appearing intermittently for the first two-thirds of the season, Hilbrich scored five points while playing the final 10 games of the season. He spent some time at center early on, but played primarily on the wing as the season progressed. Both of his goals came in March — the first on a gritty effort at the top of the crease on March 1 at Brown, the second on a clear-cut breakaway in Game 1 of an ECAC Hockey Championship first round series on March 8 at Princeton. His first collegiate point came on an assist of a Vince Mihalek goal on Dec. 1 vs. St. Lawrence.

Prior to Cornell
Hilbrich scored 13 goals to go with 20 assists for 33 points in 58 games last season with the USHL’s Indiana Ice, where he served as an assistant captain. He debuted with Indiana during the 2010-11 season with 10 goals and five assists for 15 points on the same team that featured Brian Ferlin ’15. Hilbrich has also played with another Big Red teammate before, Armand de Swardt ’14, while notching 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points during the 2009-10 campaign with the Wenatchee Wild of the North America Hockey League. The team won the West Division championship that season, and Hilbrich played for the West Division in the NAHL Top Prospects tournament.

Christian Andrew Hilbrich is the son of John and Sue Hilbrich, and he has three sisters and two brothers. One of his older brothers, Tom, competes on the hockey team at Quinnipiac. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
