Biography

Senior Season — 2015-16
Serving as one of the team's four captains, Tiitinen appeared in a career-high 30 games and posted five points on two goals and three assists. His first goal opened the scoring in a 2-1 victory over St. Lawrence on Dec. 4 at Lynah Rink. His second goal loomed even larger, coming on a semi-breakaway Feb. 19 at Harvard. At the team's postseason banquet, Tiitinen was presented the
Sam Woodside Award for overall career improvement by a senior. He was also given the Crimson Cup Award, which is presented annually to the player who was the standout performer in the season series against rival Harvard.

Junior Season — 2014-15
Tiitinen set a career high by appearing in 20 games, doubling his career point total in the process. He picked up the primary assist against Colgate on Jan. 30 on John Knisley’s goal, which tied the game early in the third period of an eventual overtime victory. Tiitinen’s second assist was also of the primary variety, as he smartly drove wide up the wing on the rush and fired a shot toward the far side of goal on Feb. 14 at Harvard. The shot forced the rebound to be kicked up the middle, where Jared Fiegl converted to tie the game in the final minutes of the third period in a 3-3 deadlock.

Sophomore Season — 2013-14
Tiitinen appeared in eight games throughout the season, but did not factor into any of the scoring.

Freshman Season — 2012-13
Tiitinen worked his way into the lineup for 19 games, appearing at both center and on the wing. He scored his first collegiate goal in just his second game — and it couldn't have been on a bigger stage. Tiitinen took a pass from Greg Miller and slid a shot under Michigan goalie Steve Racine for the winning goal in the Big Red's 5-1 victory over the Wolverines in front of a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden in New York. Tiitinen would then get his first career assist and first point at Lynah Rink the following weekend in the Big Red's 3-1 victory over St. Lawrence.

Prior to Cornell
Tiitinen comes with the reputation of being a hard-working forward for the Lincoln Stars of the USHL, where he spent two seasons accumulating 14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points over 104 games. He served as an assistant captain for the 2011-12 season, helping the Stars capture the Western Conference championship. Tiitinen is a first for the Big Red in two ways — he will be the first member of the men's hockey team native to Finland and also the first player who calls Georgia home. He moved to Suwanee, Ga. with his family and captained the Thunder U16 AAA team to USA Nationals before playing for the Dallas Stars Midget Major AAA team. He played for his native Finland on the Under-18 team at the 2009 Ivan Hlinka Memorial in Piestany, Slovakia.

Personal
Teemu Heikki Tiitinen is the son of Jukka and Teija Tiitinen, and he has an older sister. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
