Biography
Freshman Season — 2012-13
Dima appeared in three fall tournaments for the Big Red, winning the 'A' singles bracket of the Columbia Classic on Oct. 8 by defeating Dragos Ignat of the host Lions. He was 5-3 overall in singles play, advancing into the Round of 32 at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional. He was also 4-3 in doubles.
Prior to Cornell
Dima was ranked 835th in the ATP World Tour rankings with 10 career singles victories at the Futures level as of mid-July 2012. His latest success came with an impressive march to the finals of the Serbia F1 Futures event June 12-17 in Belgrade, Serbia. He advanced through qualifying and the first two rounds of the main draw before toppling top-seeded Nikola Cacic (350 ATP Ranking) in the quarterfinals, 6-4, 6-2. Dima then secured another straight-set victory in the semifinals before eventually succumbing in a three-set match in the finals. In the tournament before that, the Romania native made a run to the quarterfinals of the Romania F2 Futures event in late May.
Personal
Dragos Andrei Dima is the son of Paul and Peppina Dima. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Life Sciences.
