Biography

Senior Season — 2016
McGee converted to the mound, where he made four appearances — including a late-season start at Canisius.

Junior Season — 2015
McGee saw action in six games for the Big Red during his third season, including two starts behind the plate. He drove in a run and stole a base on March 22 in his second start of the year at Bucknell.

Sophomore Season — 2014
McGee shared reserve catcher's duties with Jamie Smith '17, making five starts and nine overall appearances. He batted .235 in 17 at-bats, including a 2-for-2 performance off the bench April 17 against Binghamton.

Freshman Season — 2013
McGee started a team-high 18 games at catcher, becoming the first freshman backstop to start as many games for the Big Red since Dave Menapace in 1980.  His best series of the season offensively came at Appalachian State — an NCAA tournament at-large team in 2012. McGee was 2-for-4 with two runs and a walk in the second game of a March 16 doubleheader against the Mountaineers, then he smashed a two-run home run the next day — the first homer of his collegiate career. Despite being new this level, he was the most defensively sound catcher on the team, committing just three errors on the season. His .977 fielding percentage was highest among the team’s catchers, as were his 14 assists.

Prior to Cornell
McGee competed on both the baseball and basketball teams at Schuylkill Haven Area HS. He was the only high school freshman to play in the Pennsylvania East-West All-Star Game in 2009, a season which proved to be the first of four consecutive years as an All-Area First Team selection and All-Anthracite Baseball Coaches Association Team pick. McGee was named to the All-State Second Team as a sophomore and served as his team's captain as a senior, when he earned the Bausch & Lomb Science Award, Commonwealth of PA Good Citizenship Award and United States Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award. He graduated as the valedictorian and was a three-year member of the National Honor Society.

Personal
Collin Garrett McGee is the son of Tom and Ann McGee, and he has an older sister. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
