Murphy registered 10 total tackles while earning his second varsity letter in 2013 while seeing significant time as a reserve linebacker. Murphy notched three stops in the 2013 season opener against Bucknell and had two tackles against both Princeton and Penn. He saw action in all 10 contests. Murphy emerged late in the 2012 season as one of the team's top young defensive linemen, making four tackles with a pair of sacks in six contests. He had a pair of sacks in his first collegiate appearance, a win over Monmouth. Murphy earned his first career start at Brown. He possesses the speed to be an effective rusher off the edge and the size to be a run-stopper.

At Boiling Springs HS
Murphy was a three-time all-league selection, earning second-team honors in each of his last two seasons at Boiling Springs HS. He was elected captain of the team as a senior and was named a second-team linebacker on the All-Sentinel team. A three-sport athlete, Murphy was a standout on the wrestling and tack and field teams as well. In wrestling, Murphy won a district title as a senior and was a two-time all-state and three-time first-team all-league pick. He was named team captain as a senior and led his squad to a state runner-up finish. Murphy’s team won a pair of district team championships. He finished seventh in the state individually as a senior. In track and field, Murphy was a two-year team captain and finished second in the district in the 110m hurdles as a junior. He had five top seven district finishes during his career.

Personal
Logan Thomas Murphy is the son of Scott Murphy and Angela Murphy-Morgan and has a younger brother. His uncle, Brian Murphy, was a wrestler at Notre Dame. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
