Honorable Mention All-American (2015)
At Cornell
Senior (2015): Cook earned the first post-season accolade of his career with an honorable mention All-American selection after a tremendous senior campaign. A two-year member of the Big Red's second offensive midfield, Cook made the transition to the defensive midfield prior to the 2015 season and quickly established himself as one of the best in the nation. He was also an invaluable member of Cornell's face-off unit, playing on the wing and helping the squad to a .657 winning percent overall, good for fourth in the nation. Cook finished the year ranked 26th in the nation, and first among all non-face-off midfielders, with 4.94 ground balls per game. A player with tremendous speed and an aggressive style of play, he also helped to spark transition and finished the year with four goals and five assist for a career-high nine points.
Junior (2014): Cook saw a significant jump in playing time his junior season, moving onto the second line offensive midfield and playing in 14 games. He finished the year with three goals and two assists, including a two-point performance at Colgate. Cook also picked up three ground balls and caused one turnover on the season.
Sophomore (2013): Cook saw action in 14 games, moving onto the second line offensive midfield midway through his sophomore campaign. He registered four goals on his first four shots of the season, scoring against Colgate, Canisius, Siena and Dartmouth. Cook added a pair of assists, registering one against Maryland and Ohio State. He also finished the season with five ground balls and one caused one turnover.
Freshman (2012): Cook saw action in one game during his rookie season, playing against Army.
Prior to Cornell
Cook played for Manhasset HS before attending Loomis Chaffee for a post-graduate season. He led Manhasset in scoring as a senior with 35 goals and 30 assists as he helped the Indians to the 2010 New York State Class C championship. For his efforts, he was named all-county. In 2011, he led Loomis Chaffee in scoring with 30 goals and 19 assists and was named All-New England.
Personal
Christopher Jay Cook is the son of Kevin ’84 and Therese Cook '84 and he has a younger brother and two younger sisters. Both his father and his uncle Ed Cook ’86 were All-American lacrosse players for the Big Red. Cook is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
