Biography
Senior Season — 2017-18
Stewart made four starts among his seven starts, posting a 4-1 record with a 1.55 goals against average and .939 save percentage. He recorded his third career shutout when he made 26 saves to backstop the Big Red to a semester-ending victory Dec. 2 at Miami. He had the nation's second-highest save percentage for the month of December (.964). After the season, Stewart was presented the team's Mark Weiss Memorial Award, which is given annually to the player who most exemplified from his rookie year through his senior year the same kind of determination and passion that the outstanding young athlete, Mark Weiss, had for life and hockey. He signed a professional contract and finished out the season with the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones.
Junior Season — 2016-17
Stewart made two appearances, including one start on Dec. 29 against Colorado College in the championship game of the Florida College Hockey Classic. He debuted in the Big Red's first game, stopping all 15 shots he saw over the final 27 minutes of the Oct. 28 contest at Merrimack. He then made 21 saves against CC in Florida, yielding two goals.
Sophomore Season — 2015-16
Stewart made two appearances in relief, playing for 72:12 and recording a 4.16 goals-against average and .857 save percentage. He made 19 saves while surrendered just one goal in his second appearance Feb. 13 against Yale.
Freshman Season — 2014-15
Stewart made seven starts and 11 total appearances in his debut season, posting a 2-5-1 record, 2.13 goals-against average and .923 save percentage. Both of his victories were the product of shutouts — the first on Nov. 22 against Brown (26 saves) and the second on Jan. 10 at Clarkson (36 saves). Stewart was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week after both of his shutout victories, becoming the first Cornell freshman to post two shutouts in a season since All-American David McKee in 2003-04.
Prior to Cornell
Stewart started the 2013-14 season with the USHL’s Dubuque Fighting Saints, but his year really took off when he was picked up by the Indiana Ice. Stewart posted stellar numbers en route to capturing a Clark Cup title with the Ice, going 13-1 with a 1.29 goals-against average and .945 save percentage in 14 regular-season games. He was once named the USHL Goaltender of the Week, and he was a 2013 NAHL Top Prospects selection while he was playing with the Corpus Christi Ice Rays.
