Biography

As a junior (2017)
• Saw action in 12 games during his junior season, making his first career start vs. Hobart.
• Was one of the team’s two primary long stick defensive midfielders.
• Picked up 15 ground balls, including a season-high three vs. Dartmouth.
• Caused two turnovers on the year.

As a sophomore (2016)
• Moved into a starting role as a sophomore.
• Played in all 13 games as the team’s primary long stick defensive midfielder.
• Picked up 13 ground balls on the year and caused six turnovers.
• Registered his first collegiate point with an assist at Albany.  

As a freshman (2015)
• Saw action in five games as a rookie.
• Played against Syracuse, Hobart, Harvard, Canisius, and Hofstra.
• Picked up one ground ball and caused one turnover against the Golden Griffins.   

Prior to Cornell
• Had a successful playing career at Mountain Lakes high school before a post-graduate season at Deerfield Academy.
• Helped Deerfield  to a 15-1 record and a New England West 1 Co-Championship.
• Named all-league.  
• Helped  Mountain Lakes to a Group 1 Section and a state championship.
• Was named All-Giibs, all-county, and second team all-state.
• Earned the team’s Hugh Chamber Award as the defensive MVP.
• Played football and won an NJAC conference championship.
• Was named all-conference, all-county and honorable mention All-New Jersey in football.
 
Personal
• Scott Canney Flynn is the son of Bob and Celia Flynn and he has two brothers and a sister.
• Father played football for Colgate University. 
• Brother Pat played lacrosse at Dartmouth from 2009-13, serving as team captain during his final two seasons.
• Grandfather Norman Penney attended Cornell Law School and later served as both a professor in the law school and Dean of University Faculty.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
