Biography
Second Team All-Ivy (2014, 2015)
As a Senior (2015)
MacManus had an excellent conclusion to her dual-sport Cornell career with a great season for women’s lacrosse in 2015. She started all 16 games on defense for the squad, frequently drawing the opponents toughest offensive assignments. She collected 21 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers during the regular season, while she also chipped in an assist on the offensive end. She had two contests with multiple caused turnovers during the regular season against Brown (3/21) and Dartmouth (4/4). She posted a season high four ground balls in a victory over Stanford on 3/31. She earned Second Team All-Ivy selection for the second consecutive year at the conclusion of the year.
As a Junior (2014)
MacManus started all 16 games for the Big Red this season and was named to the All-Ivy Second Team for her solid defensive play. She scored two goals at Colgate in the Big Red’s 15-7 victory and added an assist two games later at Binghamton. She finished the season with 15 ground balls, 11 draw controls and 11 caused turnovers.
As a Sophmore (2013)
MacManus, a dual-sport athlete, continued to play tremendous defense for the Big Red in her second season. She 13 caused turnovers and 28 ground balls, good for second on the team in each category. MacManus also scored two goals and added six draw controls while playing in a defensive role. She tied her career-high in caused turnovers with three against Canisius in the season-opener.
As a Freshman (2012)
MacManus came to Cornel and saw plenty of playing time during her first year. Playing in 15 games and starting in seven, MacManus recorded nine ground balls, three draw controls and caused six turnovers as a consistent defender. MacManus earned a stellar seven ground balls at Brown on April 28, the best individual ground ball day of the team all year.
Before Cornell
A two-time all-area selection at Episcopal Academy, MacManus has helped her team to three league titles. She was named the defensive MVP at The Defender Cup and competed in the national tournament in both 2009 and 2010. A three-sport athlete, MacManus is the school's all-time scoring leader in soccer as a three-time all-league, all-area and all-region pick for the two-time league champs. She served as team captain of both the soccer and basketball teams.
Personal
Claire Carole MacManus is the daughter of John and Cindy MacManus and has a younger brother and sister. Both her mom and dad were student-athletes at Dartmouth, with her mother playing lacrosse and her father running cross country and track and field. MacManus will play for the Big Red soccer team in the fall. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
