Senior Season — 2015
Scorza started all 40 games for Cornell this season, making all but one of them as the designated hitter. He played most games as the cleanup hitter in the order and ended the season second on the club with 25 RBI. He was at his best during Ivy action, hitting .315 in 20 games with a .425 slugging percentage as more than a third of his hits went for extra bases. His lone home run on the year came on March 31 at Richmond, in a game where he went 2-for-2 while knocking in a trio of runs. He was difficult to retire by way of the strikeout with just 15 punchouts during his 156 plate appearances. His dozen doubles and 56 total bases also led the squad.

Junior Season — 2014
Scorza appeared in 32 of the Big Red's 39 games, including 23 starts — primarily as the designated hitter. His batting average was a gaudy .452 through the first three series of the season, including a stretch of 11 hits over four games. All three of his home runs for the season came in that stretch, which was the most homers by any Big Red right-handed hitter. Scorza had six consecutive games with at least one RBI in March. He finished the season with a .244 batting average and 10 RBIs to go with his three homers.

Prior to Cornell
Scorza served as a captain of a Monroe Community College team which captured a regional championship last season, batting .361 with a team-leading five home runs and 48 RBIs – the latter number ranking 27th nationally in NJCAA Division II baseball. He was a first-team all-region selection and Academic All-American. Before his days at MCC, he earned second-team all-county honors while competing for Penfield High School.

“We became aware of Spencer after he had already been admitted to Cornell. He turned out to be a very pleasant surprise, showing a lot of wiry strength at the plate. He had a big year in the middle of the lineup for a very good Monroe Community College team and will compete to get time at first base and designated hitter this year.”

Personal
Spencer Daniel Scorza is the son of Dan and Carolann Scorza, and he has an older sister and a younger sister. He is enrolled in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
