CAREER

• Cornell's all-time leading scorer, Morgan graduated with career records for points scored (2,333), scoring average (20.5 ppg.), field goals made (743), field goals attempted (1,580) and free throws made (513), season records for points scored (687 in 2018-19) and 3-pointers made per game (3.32 in 2018-19), and game records for 3-pointers in a game (9, twice).
• In addition, he ranks in the top 10 in career 3-pointers made (second, 334), games started (second, 112), minutes played (third, 3,705), games played (third, 113), free-throw percentage (fourth, .834) and assists (eighth, 296) and just outside the top 10 in steals (12th, 126).
• The four-time All-Ivy pick was a Lou Henson All-American as a junior, a two-time NBA Draft early entrant and the all-time leading freshman scorer in conference history.
• Morgan was an eight-time Ivy Player of the Week and a five-time conference rookie of the week pick.
• The second leading scorer in Ivy League history with 2,333 points, he finished behind only Princeton's Bill Bradley (2,503), becoming the sixth Ivy League and 574th Division I basketball player to surpass 2,000 career points.
• Compiled an 80-game streak of scoring in double figures - an Ivy record and the 12th-longest in NCAA history.
 

As a senior (2018-19)

• A unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection and a pick for the USBWA and NABC All-District teams averaged 22.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 51 percent from the floor, 43 percent from 3-point range and 86 percent from the free-throw line in 31 starts.
• Morgan set a single-season school record with his 687 points before being chosen to compete in the Reese's College All-Star Game and the Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship.
• After leading the Ivy League in scoring for the fourth consecutive season, Morgan ranked 18th nationally in points per game (22.2 ppg.) and 3-point percentage (.431), 23rd in 3-pointers made per game (3.32), 44th in free-throw percentage (.860) and among the top 100 in 3-point attempts, free throws attempted and made, 3-pointers made and field goals made.
• Morgan had 41 points at Dartmouth – the third-highest single-game total in school history and the most in a game since 1960.
• That was one of six games  with at least 30 points.
• Twice hit nine 3-pointers in a game – tying the school record.
• He surpassed 2,000 points in a win at Towson, then broke the school scoring record the next time out in an Ivy-opening win over Columbia.
• Posted arena scoring records at three facilities during the season, at Towson, Dartmouth and Cornell.
• Scored 22 points in just 21 minutes and added four rebounds, three steals, two assists and a blocked shot in the win over SUNY Canton.
• Posted career highs of 38 points, 13 rebounds and four steals in the Big Red’s season-opening win at Binghamton.
• Moved into second place on the school’s career scoring list with the fourth-highest single-gamer scoring total in Cornell history in his effort against the Bearcats.
• Posted his second double-double of the season with 12 points, 10 rebounds and four assists against Colgate.
• Had 21 points, five rebounds and three assists against Delaware.
• Scored 34 points (10-of-16 from the floor, 6-of-10 from 3-point range) and grabbed seven rebounds in the win over NJIT.
• Had 26 points, four rebounds and two blocked shots while hitting 11-of-15 shots from the floor, including 4-of-6 from beyond the 3-point arc.
• Netted 26 points, including 6-of-10 3-pointers, against Syracuse.
• Scored 22 points and dished out five assists at Niagara.
• Had 17 points, six rebounds and a career-high seven assists in the win over Longwood.
• Scored 24 points, including connecting on all 10 free throw attempts, at Toledo.
• Had 23 points, two rebounds and two assists at SMU.
• Scored 27 points, including 25 in the second half, to go along with eight rebounds in a comeback win over Navy.
• Posted 22 points and eight rebounds at Wake Forest.
• Hit a school-record nine 3-pointers en route to a career-high and SECU Arena record 38 points in a win at Towson, becoming the sixth player in Ivy League history to surpass 2,000 career points in the process. 
• Named Ivy League Men’s Basketball Player and College Sports Madness National Mid-Major Player of the Week after the win over Towson.
• Repeated as Ivy League Player of the Week after scoring 21 points with five rebounds, five assists and three steals in a win over Columbia - establishing a new career school scoring record and moving to No. 4 all-time in the Ivy League in the process.
• Scored 21 points with three rebounds and three assists at Columbia.
• Notched 25 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the win over defending Ivy champ Penn.
• Netted 16 points and two steals in the overtime loss to Ivy unbeaten Princeton.
• Hit 13-of-17 shots (9-of-11 from 3-point range) for a Leede Arena record 41 points to go along with four rebounds and four steals in the win at Dartmouth.
• Scored 15 points, 10 in the final six minutes, as the Big Red overcame a 15-point deficit to knock off preseason Ivy favorite Harvard on the road.
• Netted 15 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals in an OT victory over Brown.
• Had 35 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists against Ivy front-runner Yale.
• Averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals on the Penn-Princeton road trip.
• Posted 31 points with three rebounds and two assists to help sweep the Ivy champion Harvard Crimson.
• Had his streak of 80 consecutive double figure scoring games snapped at 80 with eight points in the regular season finale win over Dartmouth.
• Morgan scored 24 points and added six assists and four rebounds at Robert Morris in the first round of the CIT, making 8-of-13 shots overall, including three 3-pointers, and hitting the game-tying bucket with eight seconds left in regulation to send the game into an extra session.
 

As a junior (2017-18)

• Named a first-team All-Ivy League pick and to the Lou Henson All-America team after leading the conference in scoring for the third straight season. 
• The nation's 11th-leading scorer, Morgan averaged 22.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists in guiding Cornell to its first-ever bid to the Ivy League Men's Basketball Tournament.
• Named Ivy League Player of the Week four times.
• Scored a school-record 630 points on the year.
• Among the top 100 nationally in scoring (11th, 22.5), total points (68th, 630), free throws made (77th, 147) and 3-pointers made per game (90th, 2.68).
• Ranked among the top 10 in the conference in field goal percentage (ninth, .492), assists (seventh, 3.2). free-throw percentage (seventh. .817), 3-pointers made per game (second, 2.7), assist:turnover ratio (fifth, 1.3) and minutes played (third, 34.6).
• Shot 37 percent from 3-point range and 82 percent from the free-throw line with career bests in scoring, rebounding, assists, blocked shots, field goals, field goal percentage and free throws made.
• Named to the Ivy League All-Tournament team after scoring 19 points with three rebounds, three assists and a block in the semifinal loss to regular season champ Harvard.
• Became the first Big Red player to post 12 consecutive 20-point games (previous Cornell record was six). 
• Scored 30 or more points four times during the season, bringing his career total to seven games of at least 30 - second all-time at Cornell. 
• Had consecutive 30-point games in efforts against Niagara (33 points) and Delaware (34 points), adding a career-high 11 rebounds, seven assists and two steals against the Blue Hens.
• Notched 26 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks in the win over Binghamton.
• Scored 24 points with five assists in the win at Duquesne.
• Posted 25 points at Auburn.
• Made 8-of-11 shots, including all four 3-point attempts, and 9-of-10 free throws for 29 points in the win over Columbia.
• Scored 31 points with 11 rebounds and seven assists in a triple overtime win over Princeton, playing 51 minutes.
• Posted 34 points, including 6-of-14 from beyond the arc, with two rebounds and three steals in the loss at Harvard.
 

As a sophomore (2016-17)

• Named second-team All-Ivy after leading the Ivy League in scoring for the second straight year, posting a circuit-high 18.1 points to go along with 4.6 rebounds, 2.1 rebounds and 0.8 steals per game.
• Led the Ancient Eight with 86 3-pointers while shooting 46 percent from the floor overall, 38 percent from 3-point range and 86 percent from the free-throw line.
• Joined Ryan Wittman '10 as the lone players in school history to post multiple 500-point seasons and became the first Cornellian to reach 1,000 points as a sophomore.
• Had 11 games with at least 20 points and scored in double figures in 27 of 28 contests.
• Ranked 24th nationally in 3-point field goals made per game and among the top 100 in Division I in scoring (97th), free-throw percentage (57th) and 3-point field goal percentage (67th).
• Ended the season as one of just four players to rank among the top 20 in the Ancient Eight in scoring, rebounding and assists.
• Made the all-tournament team at the 2016 Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational, averaging 24.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists while going 12-of-26 from 3-point range in games against Troy and Southeast Missouri State.
• Posted a career-high 34 points with a Cornell record for 3-pointers at Newman Arena (seven) along with six rebounds and three assists in the win over defending Colonial Athletic Association champion Northeastern.
• Had 26 points, six rebounds and three steals in the home opener against Colgate.
• Netted 26 points against Penn, hitting 6-of-12 3-pointers.
• Scored 23 points with four rebounds at Houston and had 22 points at Princeton.
• Scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the home win over Dartmouth, then tallied 28 points in the win at the Big Green.
• Scored 16 points, all in the second half, to go along with two rebounds and two assists at Wyoming and posted 15 points and six boards at USC.
• Had 17 points, seven assists, six rebounds, two blocks and two assists in the win at Columbia.
• Had 16 points and eight rebounds in each of the first two games of the 2016-17 season (at Binghamton, at Siena).
• Scored 21 points with six rebounds and two steals against UMass Lowell.
• Netted 28 points against Yale and registered 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in the season-ending win over Brown.
 

As a freshman (2015-16)

• Averaged 18.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals in 30.7 minutes per game in his first 27 collegiate contests, including hitting 70-of-214 3-pointers (33 percent).
• Established a Cornell and Ivy League freshman scoring record on his way to second-team All-Ivy honors.
• Ranked first in the Ancient Eight in scoring both overall and in conference play, posting the fifth-highest scoring average of any freshman in Division I along the way.
• Finished the season 54th nationally in scoring in Division I and 82nd in 3-point field goals made per game.
• Was second in the conference in free throws made (122), third in steals per game (1.4) and sixth in free-throw percentage (.808).
• Five-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week (Nov. 23, Jan. 4, Jan. 18, Feb. 1, Feb. 29), one-time National Rookie of the Wee9 Feb. 1) and one-time Ivy League Player of the Week (Feb. 1).
• Averaged 22.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game in Ivy League play, hitting 40-of-119 3-pointers (.336) and 82-of-101 from the free-throw line (.812).
• Posted 20 or more points in 12 games with two 30-point contests and 25 or more points in half of the team’s 14 Ivy League games.
• Set a Big Red freshman record of 33 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and three steals in a win at Harvard
• Scored 32 points the following night to complete the road sweep with a victory over Dartmouth, hitting 17-of-23 free throws in the process.
• Scored 25 points with four rebounds and four assists in the season-closing win over Brown.
• Had 27 points against Harvard and 28 vs. Penn in games at Newman Arena.
• Averaged 27.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds while connecting on 4.5 3-pointers in two games against Columbia.
• Had 19 points with four steals, two blocks and two assists against Albany.
 

At Cox Mill HS

• A two-time all-state selection and three-time all-conference and all-county selection, Morgan was named conference player of the year as a senior at Cox Mill HS.
• He was chosen to play in the Carolinas All-Star Classic in his final season, winning the game's 3-point contest.
• Also invited to the East/West Carolina All-Star Game.
• Became first player in school history to surpass 1,600 career points and earned the school's Athlete of the Year as a senior.
• Averaged 25.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists as a junior to capture first-team all-state by NCpreps.
• Shot 49 percent from the floor and 89 percent from the free-throw line in earning first-team all-league and second-team all-district honors.
• Also was first-team all-county and honorable mention all-region by the Charlotte Observer as a junior.
• Morgan averaged 14.5 points and 5.5 assists as a sophomore.
• Was a three-time team MVP.
• Also played football.
 

Personal

• Matthew Garnell Morgan is the son of Lamont and Paris Morgan and has a younger brother.
• His father played basketball at Georgetown (1990-94), lettering four times and playing in more than 100 career games.
• His father's team won a Big East title, appeared in three NCAA tournaments, advanced to the finals of the NIT tournament in 1992-93 and posted a cumulative record of 80-48.
• He is enrolled in the School of Hotel Administration.
