Biography

Senior Season — 2016
Winawer appeared in 33 of the Big Red's 38 games and earned 31 starts from the corner outfield positions. He started the season with five hits over the first four games and later hit a home run in an April 9 game at Brown. He led the team with four sacrifice bunts and also drove in three of his six runs with sacrifice flies. He ranked third on the team with four stolen bases on five attempts.

Junior Season — 2015
Winawer finished the season making 33 appearances and 27 starts, all of which coming at either left or center field. He had a four-game hitting streak in late-March, with all but one of the games coming against Bucknell. He also had a trio of multi-hit games on the campaign, with one of them coming on April 19 at Columbia when he came off the bench and went 2-for-2 against Lion pitching. He was also one of five Big Red players to end the year with a perfect stolen base percentage, he was 2-for-2.

Sophomore Season — 2014
Winawer did not appear in game action until the second half of the season, but he was the Big Red's best offensive player for the balance of the campaign. He batted .436 with a .500 on base percentage through 21 games, including 15 starts at the corner outfield positions. Winawer hit .442 in league games — by far the best on the team — and garnered All-Ivy League Honorable Mention. Despite making just 21 appearances, Winawer ranked second on the team with nine multiple-hit games and an eight-game hitting streak. He was 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI, two walks and two stolen bases in the second game of a doubleheader against Princeton on April 25, then responded with a 3-for-6 performance two days later in a rematch against the Tigers in New Jersey.

Freshman Season — 2013
Winawer did not see any game action.

Prior to Cornell
Winawer played for Mountain View HS, where he served as a captain and was named Most Valuable Player after a senior season featuring a .500 batting average. He led the Central Coast Section with 50 hits that season, becoming an All-SCVAL De Anza Division First Team and Palo Alto All-Daily News Baseball member for a second time. He was also a Rivals.com First Team All-Central Coast Section pick in 2011 after a junior season in which he hit .443.
