• Saw action in three games.
• Played against Air Force, Dartmouth, and Brown.
• Picked up two ground balls vs. the Falcons.
• Had one ground ball against both the Big Green and the Bears.
As a sophomore (2017)
• Saw action in one game as a sophomore, playing vs. Dartmouth.
As a freshman (2016)
• Did not compete during his rookie season.
At Hackley School
• Earned four varsity letters at Hackley School.
• Served as team captain as a senior.
• A three-time first-team All-Ivy League selection.
• Selected to the Senior All-Star team and won the 2015 Bruce D. Hislop MVP award.
• Earned four varsity letters in wrestling.
Personal
• Samuel Corven Welch is the son of former Big Red athletes Patrick ’85 and Ruth Welch ’87 and he has one younger brother and one younger sister.
• Father, Patrick, was a two-time Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association champion at 150 pounds and is in the Cornell Hall of Fame.
• Mother, Ruth, was a three-year letter winner for gymnastics, serving as team captain as a senior.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the SC Johnson College of Business.
