Biography
As a senior (2019)
• Registered 17 goals and three assists for 20 points while seeing action in all 16 contests (two starts).
• Added six ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers while converting on 4-of-8 free position shots.
• Posted a career-high five goals on Senior Day in the regular season finale vs. Princeton.
• Had multiple goals in games against Colgate, Rutgers, Yale and Dartmouth.
• Posted 15 points (12 goals, three assists) over the team's final seven contests.
As a junior (2018)
• Started in three games and appeared in eight matches overall.
• Made first-career start against Columbia.
• Also cracked the starting lineup versus UMass and Syracuse.
• Picked up three ground balls.
As a sophomore (2017)
• Appeared in four contests for the Big Red during her sophomore season.
• Made collegiate debut in the season-opening win at Villanova on Feb. 18 and then had appearances against Colgate (March 7), Yale (March 25) and Binghamton (April 4).
As a freshman (2016)
• Did not appear in any games as a freshman due to injury.
Prior to Cornell
• Berstcha captained her West Essex HS team to a Super Essex Conference Championship her senior season and was named to the All-SEC First Team and All-Essex County First Team her junior and senior years.
• In addition, she played with North New Jersey Team 1 at the Women’s National Tournament in 2014 and 2015.
• She also captained West Essex’s soccer and basketball teams and holds the school record for career points (1,217) in basketball.
• Berstcha was also honored as an Essex County Athlete of the Year in 2015.
Personal
• Shannon Claire Berstcha is the daughter of Brian and Noreen Berstcha and has two older sisters, Michelle and Danielle.
• She is enrolled in the SC Johnson College of Business.
