2016-17 Men's Ice Hockey Roster
Biography
Junior Season — 2016-17
Wedman's campaign was plagued by injuries, allowing him to play in just nine games. He was able to post three points in those contests, including the team's first goal in a 2-1 victory over Miami on Dec. 3.
Sophomore Season — 2015-16
Wedman played in 29 games and recorded his first collegiate point with an assist Dec. 4 against St. Lawrence. He then netted his first career goal at an opportune time, scoring off a faceoff midway through the third period to help Cornell earn a 2-2 tie Feb. 19 at Harvard. Wedman then assisted on the lone goal of the game the next night in a 1-0 win over Dartmouth. His plus-5 rating was tops among the team's defensemen, and he also blocked 24 shots.
Freshman Season — 2014-15
The first-year defenseman was thrown right into the fire, playing in all 31 games for the Big Red and logging significant minutes in the top four as injuries ravaged the team's corps of blueliners. He did not factor into the scoring, but received invaluable experience while blocking 23 shots.
Prior to Cornell
Wedman has spent the last two seasons with the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, posting six goals and 26 assists for 32 points over 95 games. A product of Edmonton’s South Side Athletic Club, Wedman was tabbed as a “C” prospect in the preliminary rankings for the NHL Central Scouting Service’s 2013 draft watch list and was invited to try out for the Team Canada West team for the Junior A World Championships. In March 2014, Wedman became the first winner of The Evolution Hockey Award for Perseverance and Dedication, which was developed to promote post-secondary education by assisting students playing in the AJHL.
Personal
