Biography

As a senior (2018-19)
Dual season
• 5-12 from top three positions in singles and 6-13 in doubles.
• Competed at top two singles positions in Ivy League play after winning final three non-league matches of the season.
• Alongisde Katherine Nguyen, won No. 1 doubles match against Brown in a tiebreaker.
• Was 4-3 when paired with Priyanka Shah at No. 1 doubles early in non-league play.
• Did not compete in fall tournaments.


As a junior (2017-18)

Dual season
• 4-14 in singles and 4-14 in doubles
• Competed mostly at No. 2 singles in non-league play and No. 3 in Ivy League matches.
• 1-6 in Ivy League singles, with the victory coming in a super tiebreaker against an opponent from Yale.
• Was 4-3 when paired with Priyanka Shah at No. 1 doubles early in non-league play.
Fall tournaments
• 5-5 in singles 5-4 in doubles.
• Won two of three singles matches at both the Bulldog Invitational and Princeton Invitational.
• Reached Round of 64 in both singles and doubles at USTA/ITA Northeast Regionals.

As a sophomore (2016-17)
Dual season
• Went undefeated through Ivy League singles matches to finish 11-4 from Nos. 4 and 5 positions.
• Ended year on eight-match winning streak in singles, including straight-set victories in first six Ivy contests before final match went unfinished.
• 12-5 in doubles, competing exclusively with Priyanka Shah and primarily at No. 2 position.
• 3-3 in Ivy League double matches.
Fall tournaments
• 6-7 in singles, culminating with trip to Round of 64 at USTA/ITA Northeast Regionals.
• 9-5 in doubles —  including 8-2 mark when teamed with Priyanka Shah.
• Made team-best run into the quarterfinal round of regionals with Shah.

As a freshman (2015-16)
Dual season
• 7-5 record in singles and 11-5 in doubles.
• Made dual singles debut Feb. 20 and five consecutive non-league matches before settling into Nos. 3 and 4 positions for Ivy League season.
• Won two league matches, both at the No. 4 spot, against opponents from Harvard and Penn.
• In doubles, teamed with Madison Stevens as team's regular No. 3 entry with 2-3 mark in Ivy play.
Fall tournaments
• 9-2 in singles and 3-3 in doubles.
• Both singles losses came to classmate Michelle Wang, leading to second-place finishes in 'C' bracket of Cornell Invitational and 3rd Singles bracket of West Point Invitational. 

Prior to Cornell
• For her class, ranked as high as 73rd in the nation and seventh in northern California by the Tennis Recruiting Network. Was four-star recruit at time of enrollment at Cornell
• As two-time captain with Hillsdale HS, won consecutive Peninsula Athletic League singles titles in 2012, 2013 and 2014, plus a doubles title in 2013.
• Advanced to finals of Central Coast Section singles championships in 2014, and won sectional doubles title in 2013.

Personal
• Mariko Cynthia Iinuma is the daughter of Hidetaka and Nahoko Iinuma, and she has an older brother.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
