As a Senior (2016-17)
Doering, one of two captains for the Big Red, finished her final season at Cornell tied for third on the team in scoring with 10 goals and six assists for 16 points while playing a pivotal role in all 34 contests. She tied for the team lead with four game-winning goals and led the team in face-off wins (311) for the second consecutive season. After just three points in the first 14 games, Doering exploded over the second half of the season to set career-highs in goals (10), power-play goals (4), shots on goal (80) and game-winning goals (4). She tied for the national lead in game-winning goals in the month of January (4) and also set a career-best goal streak by tallying in four-straight games from Jan. 21 to Feb. 3. Doering potted the game-winners in consecutive outings against Providence on Jan. 7 (5-2) and Syracuse on Jan. 10 (7-2). She also assisted on Hanna Bunton's game-winning goal 10 seconds into overtime in a 3-2 win over Quinnipiac on Jan. 14 and earned an assist on the game-winner in the season-opening 3-1 win over Merychurst on Oct. 21. Doering tallied a goal and an assist for the fifth and sixth multi-point games of her career in the win over Syracuse and also against Union on Jan. 3. Doering finished her career 10th all-time in program history with 130 games played.
As a Junior (2015-16)
Doering had a strong season as a junior, spending much of the season centering the team’s top line, and once again posting new career-highs in goals, assists and points, finishing the season with seven goals and 11 assists. She tied the program record for most shorthanded goals in a season with three, with her first coming in a 5-3 win at Dartmouth on Jan. 9. The very next game she added her second, part of a two-goal outing, in a 4-3 loss at Colgate on Jan. 12. Her third of the season also came against the Big Green and served as the game-winner in a 1-0 shutout of Dartmouth in the final weekend of the regular season. She went on a five-game point streak from Nov. 20 to Dec. 4, recording a goal and six assists over that span. In addition, she assisted on the game-tying goal in a draw with nationally ranked Clarkson on Jan. 22 and added a helper in Game 2 of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals against the Golden Knights.
As a Sophomore (2014-15)
Doering had a solid season as the primary second line center for the Big Red during her sophomore year. She posted new career highs for goals, assists and points. She tallied the game-winning goal against Brown on Nov. 14. She added a multi-point game with a goal and assist in the Big Red’s rout of then-fifth ranked Clarkson on Dec. 5. She added a big goal in the squad’s overtime victory at then-fifth ranked Quinnpiac. She finished the year with 14 points on six goals and eight assists.
As a Freshman (2013-14)
Doering, Cornell’s third-line center, recorded three goals and five assists for eight points this season. She took the third-most face-offs and went 163-of-288 for a .566 win percentage. She had the game-winner in the Big Red’s 5-4 victory at Princeton Nov. 1 and recorded a second game-winner Jan. 31 against Yale in Cornell’s 6-3 win over the Bulldogs.
Before Cornell
Doering played her club hockey with the Mississauga Junior Chiefs where she served as an assistant captain for the squad that finished second in the PWHL last season. She was also a member of Team Ontario Blue and was a U18 National Champions with that team while being an assistant captain. Doering played four years of hockey in high school, and her team was WCSSA Champions in 2009-10. She was named her school's Junior Athlete of the Year in 2009 and its Senior Athlete of the Year in 2012 while winning her team's MVP award in 2012. Doering was also a prominent field hockey player and downhill skier. She won 10 individual gold medals in her high school career, and her team won the bronze in giant slalom in her senior season.
Personal
Kaitlin Rose Doering is the daughter of Ed and Betty-Ann Doering. She has two older sisters, Kristin and Kayla, and an older brother, Taylor.
