2016-17 Men's Tennis Roster
Biography
Sophomore Season — 2016-17
Following his midseason addition, Rosas was 2-4 in doubles matches. All but one of his appearance came alongside Bernardo Casares Rosa, with the tandem serving as the Big Red's No. 3 entry in both matches at the NCAA Baylor Regional. Rosas and Casares won a marathon match in a tiebreaker against Rice, clinching the opening point of what would ultimately be a 4-0 victory for Cornell — the program's first-ever in NCAA tournament play.
Prior to Cornell
Rosas joined the Big Red in January 2017 via Universidad de Piura, having achieved an International Tennis Federation world junior ranking as high as 20th. He was Peru's national champion at the Under-12, 14, 16 and 18 levels, and the South America champion for U16 in 2013 and U18 in 2014. Rosas has also competed at all of the Junior Grand Slam events — the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open — in 2014 and 2015.
Personal
Juan Jose Rosas is the son of Jorge Rosas Zarich and Marisol Bergelund, and he has an older brother. He is enrolled in the School of Hotel Administration.
