As a junior (2017-18)

• Part of a defensive unit that led the nation with a 1.58 goals against average, the eighth-lowest in NCAA Division I history.
• Tied for second in the nation with a plus-23 rating, having only been on ice for six even-strength goals against all season.
• More than double career point total with 12 points on two goals and 10 assists.
• Scored winning goal of Oct. 28 victory over Alabama-Huntsville.
• Capped streak of four straight games with a point with a goal in Jan. 13 win at Brown.
 

As a sophomore (2016-17)

• Stepped into an everyday role, ranking fourth among full-time defenseman with 34 games played.
• In helping the team rank 10th nationally in team defense, also contributed offensively with first five collegiate points on two goals and three assists.
• First point was on Noah Bauld's game-winning goal Nov. 26 against New Hampshire at The Frozen Apple at famed Madison Square Garden in New York.
• First goal then opened scoring in Jan. 28 game against Dartmouth, and second gave Cornell a late lead Feb. 18 at Clarkson.
 

As a freshman (2015-16)

• Made collegiate debut Nov. 6 in a 4-3 victory over Princeton at Lynah Rink
• Made only other appearance of the season the following night against Quinnipiac.
 

Prior to Cornell

• Helped Sioux Falls Stampede win USHL’s Clark Cup in 2014-15 season, providing four assists and a plus-9 rating in 12 playoff games.
• Had 17 points in the regular season, joining the Stampede after 27 games with the Bloomington Thunder.
• Named to NAHL All-Rookie First Team in 2014 after scoring 31 points in 60 games with Wenatchee Wild.
• Originally from outskirts of Buffalo, started junior career with the Buffalo Junior Sabres.
 

Personal

• Matthew James Nuttle is the son of Joe and Laura Nuttle, and he has an older brother and a younger sister.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the SC Johnson College of Business.
