Biography

Senior Season — 2017-18
Tschantz recorded three assists in 12 games with a plus-3 rating. His first helper came on Tristan Mullin's winning goal against Boston University on Nov. 25 in the biennial Red Hot Hockey game at Madison Square Garden. Tschantz later set up Jared Fiegl's winner in a 1-0 victory Feb. 10 at St. Lawrence, then he set Mullin's late strike Feb. 17 against Yale. After the season, Tschantz signed a professional contract with the ECHL's Worcester Railers.

Junior Season — 2016-17
Tschantz missed 15 of the season's first 16 games, then was in and out of the lineup the rest of the way to post six points on one goal and five assists in 15 games. His goal came in one of the team's biggest games of the season, when he swooped in off a faceoff win by Jared Fiegl to score the third first-period goal of the Big Red's 5-3 victory Feb. 3 at Union. He later assisted on the first goal of Cornell's ECAC Hockey Championship semifinal victory over Union on March 17 in Lake Placid, N.Y., where he rang a shot off the post before it was cashed in by Noah Bauld.

Sophomore Season — 2015-16
An injury kept Tschantz on the shelf until after the semester break, at which point he appeared in 20 of the Big Red's final 23 games. He posted five points on two goals and three assists, with both of his goals coming against Merrimack on Jan. 8 and Jan. 9 at Lynah Rink. He had the primary assist on Trevor Yates' winning goal in Game 2 of an ECAC Hockey Championship quarterfinal series March 12 at Quinnipiac. Tschantz saw time on the team's power-play units and fired 28 shots on goal over his 20 games.

Freshman Season — 2014-15
After an injury delayed the start of his collegiate career, Tschantz scored his first goal in just his second career game. Against Brown on Nov. 22, Tschantz positioned his body in front of the net and tipped home a shot from the point on the power play, helping Cornell to a 4-0 win. He picked up his scoring again for the home stretch of the season, where he received an assist on one of Cornell’s two game-tying goals at Harvard on Feb. 14, then he opened up the scoring on Senior Night against Union in an eventual 2-1 victory.

Prior to Cornell
Tschantz won a Clark Cup title with the Indiana Ice, ranking third on the team in scoring with 24 goals and 20 assists for 44 points in 52 games during the regular season. For the two years prior, Tschantz played for the Team Comcast Under-18 team in the Tier 1 Elite League. In 2012-13, he was the circuit’s second-leading scorer with 20 goals and 32 assists for 52 points in 40 games. Tschantz was tabbed as a “C” prospect in the preliminary rankings for the NHL Central Scouting Service’s 2013 draft watch list. He was later selected by the St. Louis Blues in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in the seventh round with the 202nd overall pick. Tschantz is the first Delaware native to ever be selected the NHL Entry Draft.

Personal
Dwyer Alexander Tschantz is the son of Jay and Martha Tschantz, and he has a brother and a sister. His mother played field hockey and lacrosse for her alma mater, Denison University. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
