Biography
As a junior (2020)
• Appeared in all five games as a junior on Cornell’s second offensive midfield before the season was cut short due to COVID-19.
• Finished the year with one goal and three assists for four points.
• Registered a multi-point game in Cornell’s thrilling victory over then-No. 2 Penn State on March 8, scoring a goal and dishing out an assist.
• Also notched an assist against Towson and High Point.
• Closed out the season with four ground balls and a caused turnover.
As a sophomore (2019)
• Played in all 15 games as a sophomore on the second offensive midfield.
• Finished the season with two goals and seven assists for nine points.
• Scored against St. Bonaventure and Harvard.
• Posted a season-high two assists vs. The Crimson and Princeton.
• Picked up four ground balls during the season, including a season-high two vs. UAlbany.
• Caused two turnovers with one each vs. UAlbany and Syracuse.
As a freshman (2018)
• Played in 16 games on the second offensive midfield.
• Finished the season with six goals and five assists.
• Scored a season-high two goals vs. Hobart and Air Force.
• Registered one goal against Brown and vs. Yale in the Ivy League Tournament championship game.
• Handed out two assists at Dartmouth.
• Tallied one assist against Binghamton, Penn, and vs. Maryland in the NCAA Tournament.
• Won 18-of-49 in the face-off circle (.367).
• Tallied 15 ground balls on the year.
• Picked up a season-high four ground balls against Hobart and Brown during the regular season.
Prior to Cornell
• Earned four varsity letters in lacrosse at Cold Spring Harbor High School.
• Helped the Seahawks to an unprecedented three straight state championships.
• US Lacrosse High School All-American (2017).
• ALL-USA Today Boys Lacrosse First Team selection.
• Named an Under Armour Senior All-American in 2017.
• Nassau County Player of the Year (2017).
• Two-time All-Long Island selection (2016, 2017).
• Was a 2017 Midseason All-USA Today Player of the Year candidate.
• Led Nassau County with 65 assists as a senior team captain.
• MSG Varsity Long Island Player of the Year (2016).
• Named the Nassau County Championship MVP in 2015 and 2016.
• Also lettered four times in basketball at Cold Spring Harbor.
• Served as captain of the basketball team and was a two-time all-county selection.
Personal
• Matthew Louis Licciardi is the son of Rudy and Nancy Licciardi and he has two brothers and one sister.
• Brother, Joe, played for the Penn men’s lacrosse team from 2016-19.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the SC Johnson College of Business.
