As a senior (2020)

• Made one start among six appearances before the season ended after just nine games..

As a junior (2019)

• One of three players to appear in all of team's 38 games, earning 36 starts — all but one coming at second base, third base or shortstop.
• Batted .217 while leading team with 10 stolen bases. Also ranking second on team with two home runs to go with five doubles, a triple and seven RBI. 
• Hit his stride in April, batting .298 for the month.
• Was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles in team's 2-0 win April 14 at league-leading Harvard.

As a sophomore (2018)

• Saw increased playing time down the stretch, then started team's final seven games at shortstop. Played 19 games in all, including 13 starts.
• Batted .205 with a pair of doubles, a triple and four RBI. 
• Six-game hitting streak from April 28 to May 12 was season's longest among classmates.
• Was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and four RBI in May 12 victory over Columbia.

As a freshman (2017)

• Served as one of Cornell's primary pinch runners, also making three starts among nine appearances.
• First collegiate hit was towering seventh-inning home run to tie April 12 game against Binghamton. The Big Red would go on to win.
• Also drove in a run April 16 at Columbia, starting in the outfield. 

Prior to Cornell

• Served as a captain for Carmel Catholic in 2016, leading the team in home runs and RBIs en route to conference and regional championships.
• Three-year member of the National Honor Society Honor Roll.
• Earned 2016 Rawlings-Perfect Game Preseason All-Central Region honorable mention. • Selected to the Prep Baseball Report Preseason All-State team as a senior
• Picked to play in the Chicagoland prospect games as a junior.

Personal

• Matthew Joseph Collins is the son of David and Cheryl Collins, and he has an older brother.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
