Biography

As a senior (2021)

• Ranked among the conference leaders in passing yardage (1,515) and tossed five touchdowns in 10 contests, including eight starts.
• Threw for 273 yards and two touchdowns in the season opener against No. 22 VMI.
• Completed 12-of-15 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown in the win over Colgate.
• Hit on 20-of-42 passes for 196 yards at No. 22 Harvard.
• Connected on 7-of-13 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown vs. Brown.
• Hit on 20-of-40 passes for 257 yards and a touchdown against No. 15 Princeton.
• Was 8-of-20 passing for 128 yards in the win at Penn.
• Hit on 10-of-18 passing for 122 yards vs. Columbia.

As a senior (2020)

• Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 

As a junior (2019)

• Played in all 10 contests with eight starts, completing 154-of-271 passes for 2,069 yards and nine touchdowns.
• Second in the Ivy League in yards per completion (30th nationally) at 13.32.
• Ran for 24 yards on three carries and completed 3-of-7 passes for 26 yards in the season-opening win at Marist.
• Made his first collegiate start at Ivy preseason favorite Yale, completing 14-of-28 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns with four interceptions.
• Became the first Cornell quarterback to throw for a pair of scores in his first start since James Few in 2013 against Columbia.
• Attempted one pass in brief reserve duty vs. Georgetown.
• Completed 15-of-32 passes for 251 yards and two scores at Harvard.
• Hit on 22-of-42 passes for 268 yards and a touchdown vs. Colgate.
• Connected on 23-of-35 passes for 322 yards and a touchdown in the win over Brown, leading a 48-yard drive in just 27 seconds to set up the game-winning field goal.
• Completed 17-of-29 passes for 195 yards against No. 12 Princeton.
• Was 21-of-33 passing for 276 yards and two touchdowns with one interception at Penn.
• Completed 22-of-38 passes for 267 yards and a touchdown while also running for a two-point conversion in the win over No. 12 Dartmouth.
• His 24-yard touchdown pass to Owen Peters with 5:32 remaining proved to be the game winner against the Big Green.
• Hit on 17-of-26 passes for 244 yards and ran for a score in the Big Red's season finale win for the Empire State Bowl vs. Columbia.
 

As a sophomore (2018)

• Saw action in five contests, completing 14-of-29 passing for 95 yards and rushing for 5 yards in three attempts.
• Completed 4-of-9 passes for 30 yards in his collegiate debut off the bench at Delaware to kick off 2018.
• Hit on 2-of-3 passes for 6 yards in the win over Sacred Heart.
• Was 3-of-6 passing for 25 yards at No. 17 Colgate.
• Hit on 5-of-11 passes for 34 yards at No. 17 Princeton.
 

As a freshman (2017)

Prior to Cornell

• Kenney set career passing yards (3,597) and touchdown (31) records at Lambert HS.
• Kenney threw for 2,074 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior to help his team win its first region title and state playoff game in program history.
• He was chosen to receive a lifetime captain award at his high school.
• He also played basketball.

• Richard Paul Kenney is the son of Rick and Dana Kenney and has two older brothers and an older sister and two younger sisters.
• He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
