As a senior (2018-19)

Dual season
• Named to All-Ivy League second team for both singles and doubles.
• Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large Team selection.
• Posted 7-3 record in singles after returning from an injury for the last two months of the season, progressing from No. 4 to No. 2 in the lineup.
• Won first seven singles matches, including Ivy League victories against opponents from Brown, Penn and Princeton.
• Finished season ranked fourth in the Northeast Region and 79th nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
• Recorded 4-3 record in doubles, with all but one match coming alongside Daniel Soyfer from the No. 1.
• Combined with Soyfer to go 3-3 in Ivy League play and finish the year ranked fifth in the region and 62nd in the nation.
Fall tournaments
• Won ITA Northeast Region singles championship with six consecutive victories, including three against nationally-ranked opponents in the final rounds.
• Advanced into the Round of 16 at the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, defeating a pair of top-30 opponents before being knocked off by the No. 1-ranked player in the nation.
• Earned main-draw singles entry into Canada F7 Futures event.

As a junior (2017-18)

• Second career All-Ivy League first team selection for singles.
• 9-5 in singles, with all but two matches coming from the No. 1 position.
• Won seven straight singles matches to reach completion from Feb. 18 to April 6, all in straight sets.
• 2-2 in Ivy League play with victories against opponents from Princeton and Yale.
• Appeared in all of the team's doubles matches and tied for the team lead in victories with a 9-11 record.
• All but one doubles match came alongside Joseph McAllister at the lower two positions.
• 3-3 in Ivy League doubles tilts, with victories against opponents from Princeton, Dartmouth and Brown.

As a sophomore (2016-17)

• Battled through injuries for most of the year, posting a 4-6 record from the top two positions in singles and 9-6 mark in doubles during dual matches.
• 2-1 in Ivy League play, plus a victory over a nationally-ranked opponent from Wichita State.
• 4-2 in Ivy doubles matches alongside Lev Kazakov after competing much of the non-league schedule with Colin Sinclair.
• Deployed sparingly in fall tournaments, winning once in singles to reach the Round of 16 at the ITF Canada F9 Futures before being eliminated, also dropping a first-round match at the USTA Challenger of Champaign-Urbana.
• Only doubles action was at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional, pairing with Sinclair to win a pair of matches in reaching the quarterfinals.

As a freshman (2015-16)

• ITA Northeast Region Rookie of the Year.
• Ivy League Rookie of the Year.
• All-Ivy League first team selection for both singles (unanimous pick) and doubles.
• Program's third all-league first team selection in both singles and doubles in the same year (Andy Gauthier All-Ivy in 2010; Bill Gauger All-EITA in 1982).
• Posted a 11-6 record in singles during dual match play, competing exclusively at the No. 1 position.
• Finished the year ranked third in the Northeast Region by the ITA.
• Six opponents were nationally ranked at the time of matches, with Volfson defeating then-#81 Dovydas Sakinis, of Dartmouth, in a match on April 3.
• 4-1 in Ivy League matches with lone loss coming in three sets against Columbia’s Shawn Hadavi, who was unanimously selected as the league’s Player of the Year.
• Paired with junior Colin Sinclair in doubles to finish the season ranked 62th in the country and sixth in the Northeast Region in doubles.
• At the beginning of the fall season, ranked No. 2 on the Oracle/ITA Division I Men’s National Newcomer/Freshmen Rankings.
• In first collegiate tournament, advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Northeast Regional Championships.

Prior to Cornell

• Entered the fall season with an ATP ranking of 988 after a rise of 20 places in the wake of a trip to the quarterfinals at a Futures event in Latvia.
• Among the top 20 in college tennis in terms of professional ranking.
• Competed in the qualifying draw at the Masters 1000 event in Montreal.
• A total of 14 main draw singles matches and six main draw doubles matches at the Futures level.
• Battled closely with Ti Chen, the 215th-ranked player in the world, before eventually falling, 6-3, 4-6, 4-6.
• Consistently among the best Canadian players in his age group, including three national championships in the U12, U14 and U16 age brackets.

Personal

• David Boris Volfson is the son of Roman and Irina Volfson, and he has two sisters.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the SC Johnson College of Business.
