Biography
As a graduate student (2022)
• Named second-team All-Ivy League.
• Ranked third in save percentage (.438), fourth in saves per game (8.4) and sixth in goals against average (12.57) in the Ancient Eight.
• Posted five games with double figures in saves, including 18 in a narrow 13-12 loss to Ivy champ Princeton.
• Made 13 stops against both Penn State and nationally-ranked Jacksonville.
• Had 13 saves in a narrow 10-9 loss to nationally-ranked Jacksonville.
• Stopped 10 shots in a 10-9 win over Penn.
• Closed her career third in school history in career saves (424) and wins (26), while also adding 109 ground balls with 15 caused turnovers in 56 games played (51 starts).
As a fifth-year senior (2021)
• Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a senior (2020)
• Started all six games for the Big Red in goal, posting a 4-2 record with an 11.24 goals against average and a .407 save percentage.
• Made 11 saves in picking up the win over Villanova.
• Notched eight saves and caused a turnover vs. Marist.
• Stopped seven shots, scooped up six ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers at Penn State.
• Had eight saves while picking up a 9-8 win at Harvard.
• Credited with six saves, three ground balls and a caused turnover at Colgate.
• Earned the win while making four saves in an Ivy victory over Columbia.
As a junior (2019)
• Named honorable mention All-Ivy League.
• Finished the season ranked second in the conference in goals against average (10.37) and third in save percentage (.461).
• Appeared in all 16 games and made 15 starts.
• Her 8.63 saves per game ranked third in the Ivy League.
• Had six double figure save games and four more with nine stops.
• Posted a career-high 13 stops in wins over Colgate and Brown and a loss at Dartmouth.
• Won 45 ground balls on the season, including a career-best eight in a victory at Rutgers.
• Added four caused turnovers on the year.
• Averaged 10.6 saves per game over her final five contests.
As a sophomore (2018)
• Was the go-to goalkeeper, playing in all 15 games and starting in 14.
• Made career-high 18 saves in her first-career start against Villanova in the season opener.
• Picked up 20 ground balls and caused two turnovers.
• Recorded career-high four ground balls at Colgate and versus UMass.
• Tallied 112 saves in 742:50 of action.
• Ended season with .432 save percentage and 11.87 goals against average.
As a freshman (2017)
• Appeared in three contests for the Big Red during rookie season, totaling 4:15 minutes of action.
• Earned the department's Jeff Stenstrom Memorial Award, presented annually to the freshman athlete who best exemplifies leadership qualities through dedication and strength of character
Prior to Cornell
• McGahan was named an US Lacrosse All-American in her senior year while captaining her squad at The Westminster Schools.
• She was named first-team all-state three times and was a state champion in 2013 and represented Georgia on the national stage in 2014 and 2015.
• McGahan also ran cross country and played basketball.
• The two-time US Lacrosse Academic All-American was also a member of the National Honor Society and the Head of Student Government while in high school.
Personal
• Katherine English McGahan is the daughter of William and Lisa McGahan.
• She has a brother, Billy, and two sisters, Sara and Morgan.
• She is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
