As a freshman (2019)

• Made four starts among 13 pitching appearances, which was tied for second-most on the team.
• On March 2 at VCU, became first freshman to start a weekend game since 2014.
• Posted a 2-4 record with a 8.07 ERA, though most damage was done in first two outings. Over last 11 appearances, had a 2-2 record with 4.63 ERA.
• Recorded first collegiate victory with 1.1 innings of relief March 24 at Columbia.
• Recorded season-high six strikeouts while tossing six shutout innings of two-hit ball in April 2 victory over St. Bonaventure.
 

Prior to Cornell

• Named to all-conference and all-district teams during four years as a pitcher, third baseman and shortstop at Dowling Catholic HS.
• Also competed in track and as a forward on the basketball team, earning all-conference and first-team all-state academic honors in the latter.
• Earned honorable mention for 2017 Perfect Game.Preseason Underclassmen All-American team and Central Region honorable mention for 2018 Perfect Game All-Region teams.
• Tabbed fourth among shortstops in Iowa and Top 500 nationally among classmates by Perfect Game.
• Member of the National Honor Society, the Aquinas Key and student ambassadors.
 

Personal

• Luke Patrick Yacinich is the son of Pat and Erin Yacinich, and he has one brother and one sister.
• Father played baseball and Grand View University, where grandfather, Lou, is entering his 45th year as the head coach in 2019 with 1,300 career victories.
• Brother, Jake, played baseball at Iowa and had a professional career in the Los Angeles Angels' minor-league system.
• Many other family members have competed at collegiate level in baseball, softball, soccer and gymnastics.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
