Biography

At Cornell
Kaufman appeared in 37 contests as a junior, posting outstanding numbers early in the season but cooling off during Ivy League play. He finished the year with a .215 average with 25 runs scored, 20 RBI and three home runs to go along with a team-best three triples. He went 3-for-4with three runs and two RBI on March 4 against Bucknell, then went 1-for-1 with three walks and four RBI against LaSalle the following week. He had five straight games with at least one RBI from March 10 to March 17, knocking in 11 runs over that span. He was named Ivy League Player of the Week on March 12, going 6-for-7 with seven RBI, two doubles, two triples, six runs scored and six walks, posting a 1.714 slugging percentage. Kaufman had an outstanding year as a sophomore to follow up on his stellar rookie year in 2005. Last season, he batted .326 with nine home runs and 38 runs batted in while starting all 39 games. He scored 45 runs on the year and stole 11 bases. Kaufman had one of the best series in school history on April 15-16 against Penn when he went 12-for-20 with 12 runs scored, 18 driven in, three doubles, five triples and three home runs. His series against the Quakers earned him Ivy League Player of the Week honors, and he went on to be named second-team All-Ivy League. As a rookie in 2005, Kaufman was the Cornell leader in doubles (12), triples (five), total bases (74), walks (22) and RBI (21). He also stole 10 bases in 12 attempts, hit .324, slugged .521 and scored 22 runs. The five triples tied for the Ivy League lead. His best statistical game of the season came in the second game of the Apr. 17 doubleheader at Columbia when he went 4-for-5 with a double, two triples, three RBI and two runs scored. He was named honorable mention All-Ivy after being named league rookie of the week twice.

At St. Stephen's
Kaufman was a two-sport athlete at St. Stephen's Episcopal School, earning four varsity letters in baseball and two in football. He was named second-team All-Central Texas and twice earned team MVP honors.

Personal
Brian R. Kaufman is the son of Charles and Jennifer Kaufman and has a sister. He is enrolled in Cornell's School of Hotel Administration.
