Biography

Senior Season - 2009
Brett appeared in 23 games as a senior, earning the start five times. He finished the year with a pair of base hits and four runs scored, scoring a run in three straight appearances. Brett also drew three walks on the year. He went 1-for-4 with a triple on March 7 at La Salle.

Junior Season - 2008
Still working his way back from injury, Brett made 19 appearances on the season, finding himself in the starting lineup five times – twice at second base and three times at third. He collected his lone RBI of the season on April 13 at Penn, scoring a run in that contest as well. He went 1-for-2 against Siena on April 22.

Sophomore Season - 2007
Penciled in as the starting third baseman for his sophomore season in 2007, Brett suffered an injury in December, 2006, and was forced to miss the entire season.

Freshman Season - 2006
Brett made five appearances for the Big Red as a freshman, posting one hit and a walk in five plate appearances. He walked and scored against Ohio State and picked up his first collegiate hit — a double — in the second game of a doubleheader against Le Moyne on April 11.

At Joel E. Ferris
With his .438 average during his senior campaign, Brett was named Team MVP in 2005 at Joel E. Ferris HS. As a senior co-captain, Brett was a first-team all-league selection at third base and had previously won honorable mention all-league following his junior year.

Personal
Casey Somogyi Brett is the son of Teresa Somogyi Brett and the late Ken Brett. He has a sister who is a student at Brown. Brett comes from an impressive lineage of baseball players. His father pitched for 14 years in the major leagues from 1967-1981. His uncle, George, was a 1999 inductee into the National Baseball Hall of Fame after a 21-year career with the Kansas City Royals. Brett is enrolled in Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences.
