Evan Gaudreau

  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Evan Gaudreau joined the Big Red staff as an assistant coach for the 2014-15 season, helping guide the team to a 9-9 overall record. Without any seniors on its roster, the Big Red was able to post a three-win improvement in its league record from the previous season — which is the program's biggest Ivy jump from one season to the next since 1994. Cornell won its first three Ivy League matches in 2015, including triumphs over nationally-ranked Columbia and Harvard. It marked just the third time since 1997 that the Big Red had three victories in Ancient Eight play.

Gaudreau brings plenty of Division I experience to Cornell, having spent the previous five years as the head coach of men's tennis at Holy Cross, plus an additional season as an assistant coach with the Crusaders.

Gaudreau has also been a teaching professional since 2001 and has developed many top juniors in New England who have been recruited to Division I programs and have excelled at that level. As a player, Gaudreau was ranked No. 4 in New England in the Men’s Open in 2004.

A graduate of Central Connecticut in 2002, Gaudreau played No.1 and No.2 singles for the Blue Devils. He earned Mid-Conference Player of the Month during each year of competition and at one point held a nine-match winning streak.

Gaudreau trained at the Van Der Meer Tennis Academy in Hilton Head, S.C. There he was a hitting partner for several touring pros, most notably Amanda Coetzer and Grant Stafford.

Evan and his wife, Mari, have four daughters — Jaidyn, Eliana, Olivia and Genevieve.
