McGwire Tuffy

McGwire Tuffy is entering his first season with the Cornell baseball coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2025.

Most recently, Tuffy completed his graduate degree from George Washington University in 2024, where he concluded his collegiate baseball career. Appearing and starting in 52 games primarily at second base for the Revolutionaries, Tuffy slashed .322/.437/.418 with an .855 OPS. In addition to his career highs in batting average and on-base and slugging percentages, Tuffy also posted single-season highs in hits (57), doubles (11), RBI (30) and stolen bases (12). His success on the field earned him Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team honors at second base. His contributions were also recognized with the team's annual Jackie Robinson Award.

Prior to his graduate year at George Washington, Tuffy spent four years at Quinnipiac from 2019-23, where he appeared in 103 games and made 96 starts for the Bobcats. Serving as team captain during his senior campaign in 2023, Tuffy batted .279 with a .418 on-base percentage, scored a career-high 47 runs, drove in 29 runs and stole 11 bases as a senior. His leadership and character were recognized with two Teammate of the Year awards (2022, 2023) and earned MAAC All-Academic Team honors twice (2021, 2022).

During the summers of 2021-2022, Tuffy earned collegiate All-Star and League First-Team honors at second base, representing the South County Braves (2021) in the Cal Ripken League and the Morehead City Marlins (2022) in the Coastal Plains League.

A four-year varsity starter at shortstop for The Hun School of Princeton, Tuffy was part of four consecutive MAPL Championship teams (2016-19) and earned numerous postseason honors, including First Team Trentonian All-Area, First Team Trentonian All-Prep, and NJ.com All-Prep recognition as a senior in 2019.

Following his graduation from George Washington in 2024 with a graduate degree in artificial intelligence, Tuffy spent one year as an IT consultant for SHI International. Tuffy earned his bachelor's degree in computer information systems and data analytics from Quinnipiac in 2023.
