Biography

• First-Team All-Ivy (2018)

As a senior (2018)
• Selected as lone catcher on the All-Ivy League first team, becoming the program's first backstop to earn first-team all-league honors since 1988 (Guy Leach; All-EIBL). 
• Ranked second on team with four home runs, 28 RBI and .420 slugging percentage while batting .266, scoring 26 runs and going perfect 6-for-6 on stolen-base attempts.
• Tied for fifth with three home runs in Ivy League play, which was also tied for most among catchers.
• Only catcher with two pickoffs in Ivy League play, including one during April 21 game at Penn in which he was 4-for-5 with two home runs, two doubles and six RBI.
• First Cornell player with at least six RBI in single game in nearly 11 years.
• Had 14 hits over seven-game hitting streak from April 21-29 as part of team-best 26-game stretch of reaching base safely.
• Played primarily at catcher, but also started at left and center field positions.

As a junior (2017)
• Bitar batted .284 with a team-high three triples to go with two home runs, 18 RBI and three stolen bases.
• Platooned at catcher with Will Simoneit, then saw time at the corner outfield positions and designated hitter in other games.
• After missing roughly two weeks with an injury in early April, finished the season strong with 12 hits over the last 10 games.
• Both home runs came in back-to-back to games, the latter being a grand slam in an April 25 game at Binghamton that included a double and five RBI.
• Batted .396 with runners on and .400 with runners in scoring position. 

As a sophomore (2016)
• Excelled as the Big Red's primary catcher, ranking second on the team with eight doubles, and third with a .288 batting average.
• Owned the running game on both the offensive and defensive sides, leading the squad with nine stolen bases and limiting opponents to 16 stolen bases on 30 attempts.
• Fourteen caught-stealings led Ivy League catchers and was the circuit's only catcher to appear on the 2016 Johnny Bench Award watch list (award given annually to best catcher in Division I).
• Had 10 multiple-hit games, including a four-hit effort April 9 at Brown and three-hit effort following day at Yale.
• Had season-best seven-game hitting streak, which tied for team's second-longest  for season.
• When needing to be spelled from behind the plate, appeared in left field or as the designated hitter.

As a freshman (2015)
• Made 18 starts behind the plate, which led all Big Red freshmen in appearances. • Batted .232, but played best in Ivy League action with a .294 average and a pair of three-hit games against Brown on March 30 and against Princeton on April 24.
• Led all classmates in extra-base hits (five) and picked off a pair of runners.

Prior to Cornell
• Texas High School Baseball Association Academic All-State and Houston Area Baseball Coaches Association All-Star selection.
• Named to the all-district second team, helping Seven Lakes HS win the district during his sophomore season.
• Served as a captain during senior season
• Three-year academic all-district pick.
