Giovanni Peter DiGiulian is the son of Damian DiGiulian and Kelly Thorne, and has a younger sister ... father, Damian, played college hockey at Hamilton College (1989-93) and played 10 professional games with CHL's Tulsa Oilers and ECHL's Louisville Icehawks during 1993-94 season before serving as head coach of St. Michael's men's hockey team (2012-25) following time as an assistant coach at Vermont (1998-06) and Middlebury (2007-09) ... maternal grandfather is Gary Thorne, former Baltimore Orioles play-by-play broadcaster, who also called MLB, NHL, college football, and Frozen Four games for ESPN and ABC ... second Big Red player to hail from Vermont, joining goaltender Geoff Raynak (1992-93) ... enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
