2026 | SOPHOMORE SEASON
Emerged as team's most effective pitcher, finishing 3-1 with 2.65 ERA over 34.0 innings across 11 appearances with 19 walks and 19 strikeouts ... latter three appearances of year came as starts ... went unscored upon in seven of 11 appearances, including five consecutive outings between March 7 and April 4 (13.1 innings, where he had just three hits allowed, three walks, and nine strikeouts) ... went three consecutive outings without allowing a hit between March 7-22 (8.1 innings), which included first two of three wins of season at Fordham (March 7) — his first collegiate victory — and at Princeton (March 22) ... other win on season came against Dartmouth (April 4), where he yielded just one hit over three scoreless innings ... made first career start against Yale (April 17), working 3.2 innings and allowing three runs on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts ... fired five shutout innings at Brown (April 25), scattering just three hits with two walks and one strikeout ... held opponents to just a .196 batting average, allowing 22 hits to 145 batters.

2025 | FRESHMAN SEASON
Registered 15 relief appearances out of Cornell bullpen during season … 15 appearances rank as sixth-most by freshman in program history, trailing Kellen Urbon (22 in 2012), Chris Ellison (18 in 2022), Carson Mayfield (18 in 2023), Blake Hamilton (16 in 2002), and Beck Urfosky (16 in 2023) … ended season with 0-3 record and 10.38 ERA in 21 2/3 innings … posted first collegiate save against Towson (March 16) … struck out season-high three batters against Duke (Feb. 22) and Brown (March 28) … had five scoreless outings, highlighted by two-inning outing against Winthrop (March 9).

PRIOR TO CORNELL
Earned four varsity letters in baseball at St. Mark's School ... named Team MVP and was First Team All-Independent School League (ISL) and First Team All-New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC) selection ... also received ISL All-Star honors in 2023 and was an All-ISL honorable mention as a sophomore in 2022 ... received three varsity letters in basketball and two letters in football ... named to Honor Roll all four years at St. Mark's ... played club baseball for New England Ruffnecks Baseball from 2019-23.

John Patrick Hegarty is the son of Patrick and Melissa Hegarty, and has two siblings ... father played baseball at Harvard (199-93) ... sister, Catherine, was member of Regis College track and field team for 2021-22 season ... brother, Michael, plays football at Penn ... enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
