Hutchinson made 27 appearances in his fourth season at Cornell, seeing time mostly in right field. He posted a .217 average in 69 at-bats, scoring four times and driving in seven. He hit a solo home run on March 18 at Davidson, going 2-for-3 in the game. In the two-game series with the Wildcats, he went 5-for-8 with three runs scored and two RBI. He also drove in a pair in the opening gmae of the series at Columbia on April 21. After being sidelined for his sophomore season in 2005, Hutchinson appeared in 32 games for the Big Red in 2006, making 28 starts, all in right field. Hutchinson knocked in nine runs on the year and scored 11 times despite posting a .165 batting average. He was a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts and recorded a .967 fielding percentage. He also had a four-game hitting streak from April 11-16, recording five hits over that span. As a rookie in 2004, Hutchinson started all 42 games, hitting .288 with seven doubles and three home runs while driving in 17 runs. He totaled 40 hits for the season and swiped four bases in six attempts. Hutchinson put together 14 multi-hit games, including a 5-for-8 effort in the March 13 doubleheader at St. Joseph's (Pa.).

At Skyview
Hutchinson was a solid athlete at Skyview HS, earning three letters in baseball and football, along with one in basketball. He was named to the all-league baseball and football teams his junior and senior seasons. His baseball team earned league and district championships both years.

Personal
Kaleb Reid Hutchinson is the son of Hutch and Alice Hutchinson, and he has a younger brother and sister. He is enrolled in Cornell's College of Engineering.
