Biography

Junior Season - 2010
Carroll made four appearances out of the bullpen for Cornell in his third season, posting a 1-0 record with a 19.64 earned-run average. Working 3.2 innings, Carroll got the victory in a relief appearance against LeMoyne on April 14, working one inning and allowing one earned run. He made his season debut with two strikeouts in a perfect inning against Binghamton on April 6, then pitched another scoreless inning on April 11 against Brown, walking one and striking out a pair. A rough outing in his final appearance of the season on April 18 at Penn inflated his ERA, allowing seven earned runs in two-thirds of an inning in a 10-9 victory.

Sophomore Season - 2009

Carroll made seven appearances out of the bullpen for the Big Red as a sophomore, posting a 4.35 earned-run average in 10.1 innings of work. He worked an inning and two-thirds against Harvard in his season debut on April 4, allowing one run on two hits. Carroll had scoreless outings against Binghamton, Penn and Dartmouth in game one of the Ivy League Championship Series. In that game against Dartmouth, Carroll worked a season-high two and one-third innings, striking out two while not allowing a baserunner. Carroll finished the year with a 2-0 record and five strikes while allowing only one walk. He got the win against Penn on April 12 and again two days later at LeMoyne.

Freshman Season - 2008
Carroll made 10 appearances as a freshman, starting once, and posted a 4.37 earned-run average on the year. He worked 10.1 innings in Ivy League play, all in relief, allowing just four runs. He struck out three against nationally ranked Miami on March 18, working 3.2 innings and allowing just one earned run. He later fanned four in his longest outing of the season, working 6.1 innings of two-hit relief against eventual league champion Columbia on April 19. He earned his first career save in the Big Red’s 10-8 win over Southeastern University on March 22, working 1.2 perfect innings and striking out a pair.

Before Cornell
Carroll was named second-team all-conference in baseball in addition to being named the school’s Outstanding Student-Athlete in baseball. He went to the 2006 Connie Mack World Series in New Mexico with the South Troy Dodgers and was invited to try out for the U.S. Junior National Baseball Team in the Tournament of Stars in Joplin, Mo. Also an outstanding student, Carroll is a member of National Honor Society and received an AP Scholar Award and the school’s Academic Achievement Award for maintaining an average of  95 or above throughout high school.

Personal
Michael Christopher Carroll is the son of Michael and Margaret Carroll, and he has a younger sister. He is enrolled in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
