Biography

Sophomore Season — 2015
Brewer was solid coming out of the bullpen in five appearances and earned his first career victory on March 30 against Brown when he threw 2 2/3 innings of scoreless ball to help lift the Big Red to a 10-6 triumph. Used mainly in long relief situations, he had just a 2.19 ERA to finish off the season.

Freshman Season — 2014
Brewer made three relief appearances, surrendering three runs (two earned) over two innings. He struck out two while issuing two walks.

Prior to Cornell
The career leader with 23 home runs at Sayre School, Brewer was a two-time team MVP and earned first-team all-city status and honorable mention for the all-state team as a junior. He was a Perfect Game USA Top 500 national recruit and a Rawlings Preseason All-Central Region Honorable Mention selection.

Coach Walkenbach on Brewer
“Ray is an impressive-looking young man who has the potential to be a two-way player for us. He is coming off Tommy John Surgery, which kept him off the mound his senior year. He was touching 89 mph pre-surgery and has a very high ceiling for velocity development with that big frame of his. At the plate, he can hit the ball a long way. We’re excited to see how he develops as a hitter against Division I pitching.”

Personal
Raymond Reed Brewer is the son of Patrick and Lynn Brewer, and he has a younger sister. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
