Kagan appeared in 24 contests as a junior, starting 16 games in the outfield. He batted .231 with 10 runs scored and nine driven in. Kagan joined in the slugfest at UNC-Greensboro on March 20, going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored. He had another outstanding game at the plate on April 24 against Penn, going 2-for-5 with a run and five RBI, including hitting an inside-the-park grand slam to help Cornell knock off the Quakers. Kagan appeared in 23 games in the outfield as a sophomore, starting 11 times - seven in left field and four in right. He picked up 10 hits and batted .244 for the year, driving in 10 runs and scoring seven times. He had his best game on April 24 last season, going 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and four driven in. During his freshman season, Kagan started 35 times in left field. He put together four multiple-hit games including a 2-for-3 effort in the first game of the Apr. 23 doubleheader in which he scored twice and drove in a run. He started all four games in that series, going 5-for-13 (.385) with an RBI and three runs scored in helping the team to its first-ever four-game sweep of an Ivy League opponent. Kagan had a big game in the season opener as well, going 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored in his collegiate debut. He hit his first home run in the second game of the Apr. 17 doubleheader at Columbia.

At Cleveland
Kagan was a three-sport athlete at Cleveland HS, earning four letters in baseball, three in soccer and one in basketball. He served as a team captain for both the baseball and soccer teams.

Personal
Ryland Phillip Kagan is the son of Jimmy and Frida Kagan and has a sister. He is enrolled in Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences majoring in biological sciences.
