Biography

Junior Season - 2008
Hardinger started all 38 games he appeared in on the season, opening up each game at shortstop. Outstanding with the glove, Hardinger made just 19 errors in 179 chances for a .904 fielding percentage, but excelled at making the difficult play look easy. At the plate, he had eight multi-hit games, including a 3-for-5 performance with two runs scored and three batted in on April 12 against Penn. For the series against the Quakers, he finished 7-for-15 with six runs scored and seven batted in, driving in three in game two both days. He also drove in three runs on April 8 against Harvard, going 2-for-4 in the contest. Hardinger was also successful on the basepaths, swiping seven of the eight bases he attempted to steal.  

Sophomore Season - 2007
Hardinger again started every game at shortstop for the Big Red, having played in 77 straight games entering his junior season. He posted a .244 average at the plate in his second year, driving in 10 runs and scoring 16 times, and was named second-team All-Ivy League as a shortstop. He hit a solo home run in the second game of a doubleheader against Penn on April 14. His best game at the plate came on March 18 at Davidson when he went 3-for-4. He also had a pair of two-RBI games, knocking in a pair of runs on March 17 against Davidson and again on April 7 against Dartmouth. Additionally, his defense improved, as he made just eight errors in 176 chances for a .955 fielding percentage.

Freshman Season - 2006
Hardinger started every game at shortstop for the Big Red as a freshman, posting a .216 average in 134 at-bats. He picked up 21 runs and drove in another 13, also collecting a stolen base. Hardinger posted a .903 fielding percentage in the center of the diamond, making 19 errors in 177 chances. He went 2-for-3 with two runs and a home run in the first of two games against Ohio State.

At Lynden
Hardinger had an outstanding career as the four-year starting shortstop at Lynden HS. He is a two-time first-team All-Washington State selection and three-time first-team All-Northwest League selection at shortstop. Hardinger also collected first-team All-Northwest League honors as a pitcher during his senior season with a 9-2 record and 2.17 ERA. In his final three years at Lynden, Hardinger hit .398, .418, and .398 to win the Lynden HS “Top Hitter” Award each year. He represented the state of Washington in the 2005 Cascade Classic against Idaho and Oregon. Hardinger was also nominated for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. In football, he was twice named first-team All-Northwest League at defensive back and once named second-team all-league at wide receiver.

Scott Craig Hardinger is the son of Craig and Debbie Hardinger. He is enrolled in Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
