Biography

As a senior (2018)
• Buoyed rotation with a 4-4 record and 5.56 ERA while leading team in starts (11), victories (four), strikeouts (54) and quality starts (six).
• Worked at least five innings and threw at least 80 pitches in every start.
• Led Ivy League with 19 batters struck out looking.
• Yielded one earned run in consecutive seven-inning starts vs. Fordham (March 17) and Niagara (March 25) for first two victories.
• Twice had seven-strikeout games — March 31 at Princeton and April 28 vs. Harvard.
• Ended collegiate career on high note, working into seventh inning with two runs allowed to earn victory May 12 vs. Columbia.

As a junior (2017)
• Was at the head of the rotation, leading the team with two complete games and tying for the team lead with nine starts.
• Posted a 4-3 record and 6.12 ERA with 34 strikeouts over 50 innings.
• First complete game came in a 5-2 victory March 25 at Bucknell, having yielded two runs (one earned) in seven innings. 
• Struck out a season-high seven April 8 at Harvard.

As a sophomore (2016)
• Tied for team lead with nine starts, where he was 2-5 record with 7.46 ERA and team-high 40 strikeouts.
• Earned consecutive Ivy League Pitcher of the Week honors in March following both wins.
• First came March 13 at Wofford after striking out nine and working into the seventh inning.
• Second came March 19 after fanning 13 and surrendering no runs in eight innings at Bucknell.
• Effort against Bucknell was the most strikeouts in a single game by a Cornell pitcher since 2003.
• Appeared in relief during final three outings of the season, recording first collegiate save April 30 at Princeton.
• 44.2 innings pitched was second-most on the squad.

As a freshman (2014)
• Willittes made three starts and four relief appearances, posting an 0-2 record and 3.12 ERA.
• Best start was also his last, going five innings while yielding three runs (one earned) against Binghamton on April 22.
• Limited opposing hitters to .242 average and no extra-base hits across 17.1 innings.

Prior to Cornell
• Compiled a 23-1 career record while helping Desert Mountain HS win a state title and ascend to the No. 1 national ranking by Max Preps.
• Led team in strikeouts while posting a 5-0 record as a senior.
• Ranked 458th in the nation and 156th among right-handed pitchers by Perfect Game USA for 2013 recruits.
• Two-time member of the Arizona Diamondbacks Elite Scout Team.
• Presented the 2012 Cox Communications Scholar Athlete Award and attended the Perfect Game National Showcase in June 2012.
• A Perfect Game USA Honorable Mention Preseason All-American in 2011 and a third-teamer the following year.
