Toma made 10 appearances on the mound for the Big Red, including seven starts, as a junior. He went 4-4 on the year, tying with Jim Hyland for the most victories. He posted a 6.04 ERA in 44.2 innings of work, the third-highest total on the roster. Toma won his first game of the year on March 4 at Bucknell, working 4.2 innings of one-hit relief. He struck out a season-best seven in the final game of the year, working 6.2 innings, striking out seven and allowing four runs on eight hits. He pitched 3.1 innings of relief on April 24 against Penn, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out three for his fourth win of the season. Toma continued his reputation as one of the Big Red's most versatile pitchers during his sophomore season, making nine appearances on the year with three starts. He made his first start of the year on March 21 against Ohio State, working 5.1 innings and allowing four runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four. He picked up the win in relief on April 23 against Columbia, working 4.2 innings of two-hit ball, while striking out a pair in the Big Red's 10-6 win. As a freshman, Toma posted a 1-1 record with a 4.70 earned run average in 12 outings. He came on in relief in the second game of the Apr. 24 doubleheader against Penn and shutout the Quakers out for two innings allowing his teammates the opportunity for a ninth-inning comeback that secured Cornell's first-ever four-game sweep of an Ivy League opponent. He was rewarded with his first career victory after classmate Brian Kaufman drove in the winning runs.

At Berkeley
Toma won three varsity letters in baseball and three in soccer at Berkeley HS. He was named second-team all-league in baseball.

Personal
Walker Robert Toma is the son of Marc Toma and Karen Burks and has a brother. He is enrolled in Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences.
