Brian Young joined head coach Kent Austin's staff in the spring of 2010 as defensive backs coach. In just his first two seasons, Young has helped develop a pair of All-Ivy League corner backs,

In 2010, Emani Fenton earned second-team All-Ivy honors, while Rashad Campbell making the second team in 2011. Both players led the Ancient Eight in interceptions.

Young brought nearly 15 years of coaching experience with him to East Hill. A bright defensive mind, he most recently served as defensive coordinator while spearheading the recruiting efforts at Mississippi College. He spent five years on staff as defensive backs coach, the final three years directing the defense. While there, Mississippi won two conference titles. His only other college stop was at Louisiana College in 2004.

A significant portion of Young's coaching comes from the fast-paced, high-scoring Arena Football League. He coached at the AFL and AF2 levels, as well as in the Atlantic Arena Football League. Prior to his college and pro experience, Young coached football and basketball at A.E. Beach and Savannah high schools, including leading his basketball team at Savannah to a Georgia state runner-up finish and a 32-2 record.

A 1997 graduate of Georgia Southern with a degree in kinesiology, Young was a member of the football team and earned invitations to NFL training camps in 1998 and 1999.
